Promos of SAAWARIYA and OM SHANTI OM may be the talk of the town but the select few who have got a chance to catch the promo of NO SMOKING continue to be in a state of shock.
The first look of NO SMOKING has turned out to be absolute hard hitting and creates an impact which doesn't fail to jolt a viewer. Focused entirely on the character of John Abraham who is first unwilling to quit smoking and later encounters number of well wishers who want him to kick the cigarette packet, NO SMOKING grips your attention from the first till the last frame.
Anurag Kashyap gets into a different territory altogether after BLACK FRIDAY and opens the cards with John facing the camera in bare torso. After introducing numerous characters in the film which are enacted by Ayesha Takia, Ranvir Shorey, Paresh Rawal and Jessy Randhawa, he catches you unaware during the ending moments of the promo.
It is at this point where he moves the film to snow filled locations in Russian Federation with trance music playing in the background. With an international feel to it's look and an offbeat subject for a story, NO SMOKING should certainly be igniting a lot of heat in days to follow as it gets readied for it's mid-October release.
