Sensex dull in morning trade

A benchmark index of Indian equities Wednesday was ruling tardy, having slipped from its opening highs.

The 30-share sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 20,223.45 points, was after half an hour ruling at 20,219.85 points, up 16.51 points or 0.08 percent from its previous close at 20,203.34 points.

It had moved up to 20,291.08 points soon after opening bell.

At the National Stock Exchange (NSE), the 50-share S&P CNX Nifty was trading at 6,101.25 points, up 0.17 percent.

Broader markets were doing relatively better with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.5 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index 0.58 percent up.
