One of the much-awaited combination of director-hero films in Kollywood is certainly that of director Vijay (he doesn’t want his initials ‘A.L.’ preceding his name) and actor ‘Jayam’ Ravi. The film with this untested combination is all set to go to floors from this August.
‘Jayam’ Ravi, who scored a hat-trick of hits last year with Romeo Juliet, Thani Oruvan and the year-end Bhooloham, is presently starring in Bogan opposite Hansika, in their third film together. Arvind Swamy, the antagonist of Thani Oruvan, is essaying a prominent role in the film. Ravi is also slated to star in films by Sakthi Soundararajan and his brother ‘Jayam’ Raja.
Vijay, who debuted as director with Ajith-Trisha starrer Kireedom some years back, has made films of divergent nature in the form of Madarasapatinam, Deiva Thirumagal and Saivam. He is presently directing Prabhu Deva’s comeback film in Tamil in which the bearded choreographer-turned-hero-turned-filmmaker is paired opposite Tamannaah.
Ravi, on a success streak with this year’s Miruthan hitting the right notes at the box-office, has confirmed that he would be starring in Vijay’s direction. “I have always wanted to work with Vijay as I felt my style of acting would suit his style of making films. Now that we are about to come together, I’m sure this film would make us popular all over the country!” says ‘Jayam’ Ravi.
Vijay says he was to direct ‘Jayam’ Ravi quite early in his career but it didn’t come about for many reasons. “It’s an action plus romance-oriented film and we plan to shoot widely in Chennai and Andaman Islands,” he informs.
