The award winning actress, Deepika Padukone, is a sportsperson by heart and is thorough with the game of badminton. The daughter of ace badminton player Prakash Padukone, Deepika played the game in the National level championships, and has won several cups and medals for herself and her school that she studied in.
National badminton champion, Trupti Murginde, says she practised badminton with Deepika during their younger days, and the duo, were always hooked inside the court and never wanted to leave. Trupti Murginde, was quoted as saying, "In early days Deepika and I used to practice badminton together. She was a very good player. Since then we are good friends. But after my marriage she has become my niece. But we still share the same bond and are good friends."
During the shoot of Piku, Deepika Padukone had posted pictures on her Instagram account playing badminton after a hard day at work. She had captioned the image as, "Can't resist that badminton racquet #FunOnTheSetsOf Piku". When asked to describe how her childhood days were, Deepika Padukone says life was all about sports and school. "I would wake up at five in the morning, go for physical training, go to school, again go for playing badminton, finish my homework and go to sleep." Wow!
