Arshad Warsi has a sense of humour. And he is intelligent too. He displayed his witty one liners while grilling Editor in chief of Aaj Tak news channel Prabhu Chawla on the occasion of completion of three hundred episodes of the notoriously popular show 'Seedhi Baat'. A show that featured politicians as its mainstay and an occasional film star earlier has had a turnaround in the last year or so. For Chawla a widely respected political journalist grills film stars or celebrities much more often than politicians.
Chawla is infamous for being acerbic while dealing with touchy subjects. It was on his show that Vivek Oberoi confessed that he would be marrying his then girlfriend Aishwarya Rai. Miss World not only dumped Oberoi' 'Company' she also cootchie cooed with his good friend Abhishek Bachchan. Even Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan haven't been spared on 'Seedhi Baat'. When Arshad asked Chawla why he needed filmstars on his show'.the senior editor was honest in admitting that India is a young country that wants entertainment in one form or the other. And even news has to be presented in an entertaining fashion, he said.
Arshad seems to be enjoying his stint with television. Don't be surprised if any of the news channels hire him for presenting any of their comic segments soon. Of course he will charge a bomb. But don't all good things come with a price!
