Salman Khan is on a miraculous winning streak. His latest Eid release Sultan, has all the possibility of becoming the highest ever Indian grosser of all times. The opening is spectacular and with the excellent word of mouth the film has managed to garner, Sultan could very well rewrite all the box office record books. It is said that Sultan has done a worldwide business of around 41 to 42 crores approximately on its first day. This is said to be the highest ever collection for an Eid release, the previous best being Shah Rukh Khan’s Chennai Express with 33 crores. Sutlan apparently is the second highest ever Bollywood opener behind only to Shah Rukh Khan’s Happy New Year which had collected close to 45 crores on its first day.
'Annavaram' to hit 42 screens in Hyderabad
Directed by Bhimaneni Srinivasa Rao, presented by RB Choudary and produced NV Prasad and Paras Jain on the banner of Megaa Super Good Films, 'Annavaram' with Power Star Pawan Kalyan and Asin in the lead is all set for release on December 29. The film has brother-sister sentiment in its backdrop and is the remake of a successful Tamil film 'Tirupachi'. The film's audio was released into the market through Aditya Music on December 15 and is getting a massive response. The speciality is that the film is getting released in 42 theatres in and around Hyderabad city which is a record. The film is also breaking another record by releasing with highest number of prints in highest number of centres across the world. The producers are sure that the film would create a big sensation.
Rahman turns 42, sets up music school
The ace music director turned 42 yesterday. So, he chose the day to announce his dream project. He wasn't talking of a film project this time. In fact, it was something that he had always aspired to do. Also, it's a perfect return gift to all his music lovers at this juncture of his career. As the film industry is becoming more professional and since too many aspirants are entering the industry, a dearth of trained professionals has been felt for a long time now. In an effort to encourage new talent and give them the right training to carry on their tasks professionally in future, A R Rahman has announced that he would be setting up a music school called KM Conservatory and Audio Media Education that would train interested people in various forms and genres of music in Chennai. The courses would include Western Vocal and Instrumental Performance, Indian Classical Vocal, Western and Indian Music Theory, Music Appreciation, Ear Training, Piano, Audio Engineering, an Apple certified course in Logic Pro, and a Digidesign certified course in Pro Tools. For now, Rahman's dream project would take off from temporary premises, next to his studio in Kodambakam. Though in future, he has plans of shifting the campus to a larger space in the outskirts of Chennai. 124 films from 42 countries in Chennai
The 5th edition of the Chennai International Film Festival is scheduled to be held from 14th to 21st of December 2007. The festival will feature I24 films from 42 countries. The Festival opens with the Oscar winner for the best foreign language film of the year 'The Lives of Others' from Germany. Award winning films from Germany will be screened in the festival. Films from Africa 'Benin, Congo, Nigeria, Egypt, Latin American countries and films from Asian countries are also likely to be screened. Some of the recent Tamil movie will be screened during the festival. Paruthi Veeran, Mozhi, Veyil, Onbadhu Ropai Nottu, Pallikoodam and Evano Oruvan will be screened at the festival. These film will be screened with English sub titles. These films are screened in Pilot theatre, Woodlands theatre and South Indian Film Chamber in Chennai. The details of the films screened in these three theaters will be announced on the previous day of the opening day. K. Balachandar, Kamal Haasan, Mani Rathnam, Sathyaraj, Suhasini Mani Rathnam are expected to attend the inaugural function to be held on December 14. The pass for the movie is praised at Rs. 500 for the public and Rs. 300 for the students.
