Akira's Response Makes Mahesh Fans Happy
Renowned director AR Murugadoss's latest directorial 'Akira' starring Sonakshi Sinha was released recently. This is the first time that Murugadoss attempted a remake. This film got mixed response from the audience and critics. Though the content and performances were lauded, the snail paced narration was the main flaw in the film. Interestingly, this is making Mahesh fans happy. If we look at Mahesh's previous films, the directors who scored blockbusters with Mahesh's made an average film before that. Puri scored flops with 'Super' and '143' before making 'Pokiri' with Mahesh. Similarly before 'Dookudu', 'Sreenu Vytla delivered a mediocre film like 'Namo Venkatesha'. Even Gunasekhar scored a disaster like 'Mrugaraju' before delivering super hit 'Okkadu' with Mahesh. This is the reason behind their happiness. Hope this trend continues for Murugadoss-Mahesh film too and it becomes a blockbuster.
Sonakshi travels in local train for 'Akira'
Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha, who is currently juggling between judging the TV show "Indian Idol Junior" and the shoot of her upcoming movie "Akira", says the last time she travelled by a local train here was when she was in college. The "Dabangg" actress took to micro-blogging website Twitter, where she shared: "Last time I travelled by local train was in college. And today for #AKIRA! The only difference is then it used to be crowded, now almost empty." Being produced by Fox Star Studios, "Akira" directed by A.R. Murugadoss is a thriller. The film is the Hindi remake of 2011 Tamil hit "Mounaguru" and stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Anurag Kashyap and Shatrughan Sinha in lead roles. "Akira" marks Murugadoss's third Hindi venture after back-to-back hits "Ghajini" and "Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty"
'Luckily', no stunts for Konkona Sen Sharma in 'Akira'
After exploring the realms of reality drama with "Talvar", Konkona Sen Sharma will be next seen as a police officer in Sonakshi Sinha's “Akira”. The actress says "luckily" she didn’t have to perform daredevil stunts as she essays a pregnant woman. Konkona, known as a powerhouse performer of the Indian film industry, said she's in love with her strong character in the upcoming film, helmed by A.R. Murugadoss. “I like my role in 'Akira', which is a remake of a south Indian film. I play the role of a pregnant cop as is in the original. So, since it's the role of a pregnant cop, luckily I didn’t have to do any stunts. It's a nice and powerful role of a strong woman,” Konkona told. Needless to say, she didn't even have to undergo any training for the role. The action thriller -- a remake of 2011 Tamil film "Mouna Guru" -- also stars Shatrughan Sinha, Anurag Kashyap and Amit Sadh. The original film narrates a story of a misunderstood college youth, who gets involved in a crime plot and how his life goes for a toss. The film highlights a strong social message and focuses on the safety of women. But Murugadoss has made some changes to the storyline for it's a Hindi remake. Konkona, who announced her split with husband Ranvir Shorey last month, added that she “has finished shooting for it”. Meanwhile, Konkona is basking in all the appreciation that is coming her way for her portrayal as the mother of the murdered character in "Talvar". Meghna Gulzar's directorial unfolds three scenarios of the 2008 murder of 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar and her family's domestic servant Hemraj on the silver screen.
Revealed! The story behind Sonakshi Sinha's scar in 'Akira'
The scar has an interesting back story to it. Director A R Murugadoss wanted to establish that she has gone through enough, but is still strong to stand up and fight it out. Murugadoss’ logic is that every mark on our body has a story behind it. Similarly, Akira has a past injury to remind her of the time gone by.
Akira Deaclared As Hit Or Flop?
Looks like Akira, the Hindi remake of Tamil film Mounaguru, director by Tamil cinema’s numero uno director AR Murugadoss . this will be first failure for him in Bollywood. Sources say that although reviews are quite average to decent, the opening is very poor and audiences should only watch the movie out of curiosity and positive word of mouth. Interestingly Murugadoss hasn’t faced failures in Bollywood that all his previous movies including Ghajini and Holiday were big hits. Murugadoss is currently busy with the Tamil-Telugu bilingual with Mahesh Babu, the film also has Rakul Preet, RJ Balaji and SJ Suryah in important roles.
