Bullett Raja misses bull's eye at box office

Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia's latest offering "Bullett Raja" may have missed the target at the box office, but it did decent business by earning approximately Rs.12 crore to Rs.13 crore in two days of its release, say trade pundits. The Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha-starrer came out Friday. Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines said: "'Bullett Raja' is doing a decent business at the box office, but nothing great. The film has approximately collected Rs.12 crore to Rs.13 crore on Friday and Saturday." Based in a small town in Uttar Pradesh, "Bullett Raja" is described as a fest of guns, grime, and glory and it has just a week to utilise its potential. "The film will go steady just for a week because next Friday 'R...Rajkumar' will release. It looks very impressive and considering the fact that it's a Prabhudheva film, there is a lot of hope from the film. His record has been very strong so far," said Thadani. Shahid Kapoor-starrer "R...Raajkumar" too is a crime thriller and another common thread between the two films is Sonakshi, who is playing the female lead in this one too. However, in Rajasthan, "Bullett Raja" has got an encouraging response. Sunil Bansal of Yash Raj Jai Pictures Pvt Ltd in Rajasthan said the film collected "around Rs.52 lakh on Friday and around Rs.50 lakh on Saturday". "So the film has garnered over Rs.1 crore in Rajasthan, which is great," he said and added that they are now looking forward to Aamir Khan-starrer action thriller "Dhoom 3". Coming out Dec 20, it will see Aamir in a negative role. "But now we are looking forward to 'Dhoom 3', which will certainly do great business," said Bansal.

In Lucknow, 'Bullett Raja' finds home away from home

Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha are getting a real taste of Lucknow's culinary flavours and hospitality while shooting for action drama “Bullett Raja”. Thanks to the locals, the team got to gorge on tasteful home-cooked biryani. A source from the set of Tigmanshu Dhulia's anticipated project says that a few locals were so happy to have the team shooting in their locality that one day they went out of their way and brought home-cooked food for the entire crew. "We have been shooting in Lucknow quite a long time now and we were all feeling very homesick. It was that one day a group of ladies came to Saif and offered him some homemade mutton biryani,” said a source close to the team. What followed the next day was “huge dabbas (boxes) filled with home-cooked biryani, not only for Saif but for the entire team," the source said, adding how “it was almost feast of sorts for us that day”. “Bullett Raja”, which is about a a mafia based in Uttar Pradesh, is expected to be an action-packed entertainer. Presented by Fox Star Studios, the movie also stars Jimmy Shergill, Vidyut Jammwal, Raj Babbar, Gulshan Grover, Ravi Kishan and Chunky Pandey.

Vidyut's action stunts extended for 'Bullet Raja'

Vidyut Jammwal is shooting an additional action sequence with Saif Ali Khan for Tigmanshu Dhulia's "Bullet Raja". Post his display of high-octane action scenes in "Commando", Vidyut was signed to play an action role in "Bullet Raja". His bit of shooting was wrapped up in about a week in Etawah in Uttar Pradesh a month ago. But now he is back on the movie's set. "Tigmanshu was very impressed by what he saw Vidyut achieve in the one week that they shot. He wrote an additional action sequence for Vidyut and invited him to Nasik to shoot it," said a source. Apparently, Vidyut's role has now gone from being a mere cameo to a full-fledged part.

Saif Ali Khan goes natural for 'Bullet Raja'

Saif Ali Khan has opted for a naturally tanned look instead of make-up to play a rural gangster in Tigmanshu Dhulia-directed "Bullet Raja". According to a source, the actor was required to get a tanned look for his character and to achieve that the 42-year-old would sit outside his van in the afternoon. “Saif really puts in a lot of effort to get into his character. Tigmanshu wanted a certain tanned look since he is playing a rural gangster. When Saif learned this, he decided that instead of the make-up he would sit outside his van in the afternoons to get the natural tanned look. We all told him that it was not necessary to do that as it was really scorching hot, but he did not listen to us,” said the source. The actor went to great lengths to get under the skin of Langda Tyagi, his character in critically acclaimed Othello-inspired 2006 movie "Omkara". "Bullet Raja" narrative will be set against the backdrop of Uttar Pradesh-based mafia, and it will deal with the underworld. It also stars Sonakshi Sinha and Jimmy Shergill.
