'Dhoom 3' poster out, looks interesting

An ominously stormy sky, skyscrapers, choppers flying in the air and a topless man watching all this standing behind a window - this is the first look of the much awaited film "Dhoom 3". It's dramatic and makes you curious. Although the face is not visible, the man in the poster looks like Aamir Khan giving a glimpse of his well-toned body, something which audiences appreciated in his 2008 hit "Ghajini". He is seen wearing a pair of trousers and has teamed it up with a hat. The film is scheduled for a Christmas release, an auspicious time for Aamir's films, and the poster's tag line proclaims: "This year will end with a Dhoom". The 48-year-old is playing an antagonist in "Dhoom 3", the third instalment in the franchise that started in 2004 with John Abraham playing the villain. Hrithik Roshan played the negative role in "Dhoom 2". It is reportedly said that Aamir has used a lot of acrobatic skills to pull off heists in the Vijay Krishna Acharya directed action thriller that also features Katrina Kaif as his love interest. Abhishek Bachchan once again returns to play a cop, chasing the super villain with Uday Chopra as his sidekick.

'Dhoom 3' my toughest role so far: Aamir

Aamir Khan, who has played a variety of roles in his 25-year-old career, says "Dhoom 3" is his toughest role so far. In the last couple of years, the 48-year-old star gave hits in the form of "Taare Zameen Par", "Ghajini" and "3 Idiots" and his role in each of them was as different as chalk to cheese. But he said: "I think 'Dhoom 3' is my toughest role so far. I have never played anything like this before." "Every film is challenging, but this was a tough role. I had a great time working in the film," Aamir told reporters Wednesday at the trailer launch of the film. In terms of preparation, the actor had to workout a lot for "Dhoom 3". "I am playing a gymnast in the film. I also went for circus training for the film. There was a lot of hard work for the film. I followed a strict diet." The actor plays a negative role in director Vijay Krishna Acharya's sleek and stylish thriller -- but says not to compare it with the typical villain of the big screen. "I liked the story and I was amazed after reading the script. I am not playing a typical Hindi cinema villain in 'Dhoom 3'. I don't want people to feel I am playing a villain," said Aamir. Abhishek Bachchan, his co-star in the film, was also present at the event. "'Dhoom 3' is much more edgier. I wouldn't call Aamir villain of the film," said Abhishek who featured in the earlier two parts of "Dhoom" that started in 2004. Also featuring Katrina Kaif and Uday Chopra, the film will come out Dec 20.

Dhoom 3 races for Rs.300 crore mark

The makers of "Dhoom:3" have found the pot of gold with the fast-paced action thriller. The Hindi box office business of the Aamir Khan-starrer has reached Rs.211 crore and, looking at its pace, trade pundits predict it will soon cross the benchmark set by Shah Rukh Khan-starrer "Chennai Express", which became the biggest grosser by earning Rs.216 crore. Also starring Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra, "Dhoom:3" came out on Dec 20 on around 4,000 screens in the country. Estimated to be made on a budget of about Rs.100 crore, the film has been produced by Yash Raj Films. Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines said: "'Dhoom:3' has collected around Rs.211 crore only in Hindi all over India. In other languages, the film has collected around Rs.10 crore." The overseas collection of director Vijay Krishna Acharya's offering is also overwhelming. "As far as overseas collection is concerned, the film has almost collected around Rs.100 crore, so in totality 'Dhoom: 3' has collected over Rs.300 crore, which is terrific in nine days," Thadani said. If "Dhoom:3", the third successful film in the "Dhoom" franchise, maintains its collection, then it will break the record of "Chennai Express", according to Sanjay Ghai of Mukta Arts. "Today is the ninth day and 'Dhoom:3' has collected Rs.211 crore, which is outstanding and it was the same with 'Chennai Express'. And if the film maintains (the collection), then tomorrow (Monday) it will break the 'Chennai Express' record," he said. "I am confident it will cross Rs.300 crore in India, provided the film doesn't show any dip in the collection," he added. Thadani too predicts the same. "I see the film anywhere in the range of Rs.250 to Rs.300 crore as it's doing exceptionally well."
