Ghanchakkar' director biggest ghanchakkar: Emraan

Emraan Hashmi, who is gearing up for the release of "Ghanchakkar", his first comedy, says the film's director Raj Kumar Gupta is the biggest 'ghanchakkar'. Co-written by Gupta and Parvez Sheikh, "Ghanchakkar" features Emraan as a forgetful Maharashtrian guy Sanjay Athray and Vidya Balan as his loud Punjabi wife Neetu. "In this film, Raj Kumar Gupta has made us 'ghanchakkar'. Raj looks very sweet and simple, but I don't think he is. He is the biggest 'ghanchakkar'," Emraan said here in an interview. "His (Gupta) and our writer Parvez's mind is so much twisted that the kind of script they have written, I can confidently say that when you all will watch the film, you all will become 'ghanchakkar'," he added. So far, Emraan has played intense, negative and romantic roles on-screen, but "Ghanchakkar" is his first light-hearted drama and his favourite too. "This character is one of my favourite characters. A guy who is not trying to be too funny, but he is inherently a huge Ghanchakkar," Emraan, who won applause for his character-driven roles in films like "Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai", "The Dirty Picture" and "Ek Thi Daayan". "Everyone in the film will make you laugh," he added. "Ghanchakkar" hits theatres June 28.

Emraan confident 'Ghanchakkar' will be his biggest success

Emraan Hashmi, who has had a slew of hits lately, believes his latest "Ghanchakkar" will be his biggest hit ever. "There has been a huge change for me in the last 3-4 years with films like 'Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai' and 'The Dirty Picture' and, Inshallah, I feel the way 'Ghanchakkar' has been made and the feedback we have been getting from those who have seen the edit, I am very sure that this will be my biggest success," he said. Emraan, 34, has had a string of successes like "The Dirty Picture", "Jannat 2", "Raaz 3D" and "Ek Thi Daayan". "Ghanchakkar" is a comic thriller and tells the story of a Maharashtrian man who claims to have forgotten about the money he had hidden somewhere. Talking about the film, Emraan said the film carries such suspense that no one will be able to guess who actually has the money. "The film's theme is comic but there is a suspense angle to it. I assure you, when you will see the film, you will not be able to guess who actually has the money," Emraan said. He credits the writers - Raj Kumar Gupta and Parvez Sheikh - for creating fine suspense in the film. "The way the film has been written and treated, every 15 minutes you will feel that the protagonist is lying and his memory is fine and may be he has the money. Then you will think the wife has, and later you will even be suspicious about the other two men. But you will never be able to guess what will happen in the climax and who has the money," he said. Directed by Gupta, "Ghanchakkar" stars Vidya Balan opposite Emraan as his loud Punjabi wife and hits theatres June 28.
