More news →'Great Grand Masti' to clash with 'Madaari' at box office on July 15
An online leak forced 'Great Grand Masti' makers to advance the film's release by a week, bringing it in direct competition with Irrfan's 'Madaari' at the box office on July 15. But now, Irrfan has grabbed the June 22 date vacated by the adult comedy. "It took us a while to decide about changing the date, but in the end, we have to survive in the industry as a team; harmony will be beneficial for everyone. I wish the team of GGM all the best. I am sorry the wait for our film got a little longer," the first-time producer says.
Urvashi Rautela: 'Great Grand Masti' a family film and not vulgar
Urvashi Rautela, the lead actress of 'Great Grand Masti', says it's a family film and is devoid of vulgarity. On the sidelines of a photoshoot for the Exhibit magazine, Urvashi spoke about 'Great Grand Masti' and said: "It is a family film, not at all vulgar. It's more inspired by 'Masti' (the first film in the series). The audiences can come in with their families and enjoy." Urvashi says that she plays the girlfriend of characters essayed by Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi and Aftab Shivdasani in the film, the story of which is about how she turns into a virgin ghost. "It is my first comedy film. It is a very interesting story and the character I play forms the main crux of the story, the soul of the film. I am very excited," she said. Urvashi started her film career by playing a homely wife wearing saris in Sunny Deol's 'Singh Saab The Great', but in 'Great Grand Masti', she will be wearing revealing outfits. About the transformation, Urvashi said: "As an actor, it is very important that there should be a character which is slightly 'hatke'. For example, Kajol did a negative character in 'Gupt'. Of course, my character is the solo heroine of the film, but this is a very different, very challenging and very demanding character. "As a creative person, I got the opportunity to do comedy, action and also romance, to live and feel so many emotions and as an actor to showcase yourself to the fullest. To be able to portray such a significant character, I'm thankful to have that level of belief from my producers, my directors and my actors." 'Great Grand Masti', directed by Indra Kumar, is releasing on July 22.
Ritesh Deshmukh starrer Great Grand Masti release advanced to July 15
Reports suggest that the release of the Hindi film Great Grand Masti, scheduled for July 22nd will now be advanced to July 15. If reports are to be believed, this advance release is because of the online leak which is available in HD print also. The Crime Branch has arrested nine individuals under the Copyright Act in connection with the leak. While there have been a few suggestions like submitting the movie in DCP (Digital Cinema Projection) format instead of the DVD mode, we wish such leaks are curbed. Recently, there were movies which got leaked with the logo "Censor Board copy". Udta Punjab also suffered this fate where it got leaked a few days before it’s theatrical release. While both the movies (Udta Punjab and Great Grand Masti) are produced by Ekta Kapoor, both were stuck with the Censor Board for the objectionable content, and later on getting passed with an “A” certificate.
Shraddha Das ready for fun in 'Great Grand Masti'
Actress Shraddha Das, most popular for her work in films such as "Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji" and "Aarya 2", is excited to join the team of adult comedy "Great Grand Masti" and is ready for fun. The film is the third instalment in Bollywood's "Masti" franchise, featuring Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani and Riteish Deshmukh in the lead roles. "I signed this film mainly because it was similar to the first 'Masti' with three lead girls and needed performance too. Also, it was fun to lighten up a bit with Vivek, Aftab and Riteish and match-up to their comic timing," Shraddha, who has already started shooting for the film in Rajkot, said in a statement. Being directed by Indra Kumar, the film also stars Urvashi Rautela, Puja Banerjee and Mishti in important roles. According to Rajkumar Tiwari, who was involved in the film's casting process, Shraddha was suggested because the director wanted a one-take artist. A popular face in southern filmdom, Shraddha currently has Hindi-Telugu bilingual "Haunting of Bombay Mills" and Telugu comedy "Guntur Talkies" in her kitty.
Nishikant Kamat extends support to 'Great Grand Masti'
'Madaari' director Nishikant Kamat has shown support to the makers of 'Great Grand Masti', which was recently leaked online, and spoke about creating an "eco-system" to fight piracy. 'Madaari', which stars internationally acclaimed actor Irrfan Khan, was scheduled to be released on July 15, but it will now release a week later at the behest of the makers of 'Great Grand Masti'. "I think the film industry needs to be more supportive of each other," Kamat said in a statement. "While we were apprehensive to shift our date again to July 22, we felt strongly that the cause of piracy owing to the leak of 'Great Grand Masti' was more crucial, and as creative people we must all support each other and create an eco-system where we hopefully can survive through such tactical ways to fight back things like piracy," he added. This is the second time that the movie's release date has been altered. Earlier, 'Madaari' was to release alongside megastar Amitabh Bachchan's 'TE3N' on June 10 and then it was pushed to July 15. 'Madaari', which explores a father-son relationship, also features Jimmy Sheirgill in a pivotal role.
