Amit Bhargav on his role as Trisha's husband in Garjanai

Trisha will soon be seen in a heroine oriented movie titled as Garjanai, a high octane thriller. Amit Bhargav of Kalyanam Mudhal Kaadhal Varai would be playing Trisha’s husband in the film. Amit tells us, “My friend Sundar recommended me to this role and I met the director. Since they have seen my performance in Kalyanam Mudhal Kaadhal Varai, I did not have the audition and I was selected immediately. I am of course excited to be working with Trisha. It is a little surreal. I keep wondering if it is true. I think till I finish shooting and see the film on screen, I will not be able to believe. We shot for a day without Trisha as we did not get her dates on the said date. We would begin the shoot once we have her dates”. Garjanai also has Vamsi as an antagonist; Sriranjani and Vadivukkarasi play powerful roles. Directed by Sundar, a newcomer, the unit plans to shoot the film in Karaikudi.

Neil plays Priyanka’s youngest husband in ‘Saat Khoon Maaf’

Priyanka Chopra plays an unique role in “Saat Khoon Maaf” – she has seven husbands in the movie. While Naseeruddin Shah is her oldest spouse, Neil Nitin Mukesh has just been signed to play the youngest. Neil’s character will require heavy physical transformation. He will apparently be unrecognizable on screen. “When I heard the script, I was zapped. This was something I had to do. I play one of Priyanka’s husbands, the youngest of the lot. The fact that I get to be in the same film as actors like Naseeruddin Shah and Mohanlalji was incentive enough,” Neil, who is currently busy shooting for Yash Raj Films’ “Lafange Parinday”, said. Except one, all the actors playing Priyanka’s husbands, including an unknown American actor, have been finalised. The actor starts shooting for “Saat Khoon Maaf” from April. “I’ve a somewhat crowded date diary this year. I join Abbas-Mustan from June to December for ‘Italian Job’,” said Neil who recently moved to Powai to be near Yash Raj Studios to avoid the daily traffic to and from South Mumbai. “The traffic on that side of town is just as bad. It’s excruciating to travel even from Powai to Yash Raj Studios. On Thursday I had a day off and I invited my mom over to do up my new home the way I wanted it.” Neil, who has been a part of a joint family all his life, says he has no time to miss his family in Powai. “Because I use that old flat of ours only to sleep”alone!”

Lalit Modi row: No need for husband's signature for operation in Portugal, claims Congress

New Delhi: The Congress party on Monday continued to agitate for External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj's resignation in light of the Lalit Modi controversy, claiming that the 'excuse' given by the BJP for her actions is invalid. "The External Affairs Ministry is a sensitive division and to work with such a lack of responsibility... She has gone out of her way to provide Lalit Modi with help. She talks to a British MP and the British High Commissioner and Lalit Modi gets the requisite travel papers in 24 hours," Congress leader PL Punia told the media. "Sushma Swaraj acted on humanitarian grounds to facilitate Lalit Modi, who has been accused of laundering several hundred crores. They say it is so that Modi could visit his ailing wife in Portugal and sign papers before the operation is conducted. However, as per Portuguese law, it is not a requirement to obtain the signature of the husband for any surgical operations," he added. Swaraj on Sunday had said that she had taken a humanitarian view of Lalit Modi's case since his wife was suffering from cancer. She further said that British MP Keith Vaz had spoken to her on the same, adding she believes that giving an Indian citizen 'emergency travel documents' cannot spoil relations between India and the UK. Vaz, who is facing an inquiry in the UK over the role he played in Modi receiving his travel papers, said that he had checked with the Indian Government before taking any action and added that he had received a 'no objection' from New Delhi.

'Mittai' - Two husbands for a woman

A new film titled 'Mittai' has all the potential to cause quite a stir in the hearts of conventional people as initial reports suggest that it weaves the story of a woman who gets married to two men at the same time. However, the director of the film M. S. Anbu emphasized that the film will not disturb anybody and even went on to add that the film is socially responsible. The think-tank behind the film has come up with a novel way to decide on the ending. Once 75% of the film is complete shooting would stop and a contest would start. Contestants would be short listed and shown the incomplete film. The contestants are then expected to write the ending of the story. The person who comes up with the best ending for the film would be presented with gold mittai's worth 1 lakh of rupees. The expenses of participants who travel from other parts of Tamilnadu to Chennai would be taken are of by the producers of the film. The whole idea seems to be a wonderful marketing endeavor, but it could also mean that the filmmakers are not able to come up with a suitable ending. However, the approach is new and could end up rewarding a talented writer with a career.
