Kanna: Love Vs Infatuation

'Kanna', directed by debutant director Anand deals a delicate issue of the difference between love and infatuation. The movie goes on exploring the infatuations of a 16 years old girl and deals with how she is back in track. Anand was able to convince the producers ' this is the first venture for them too ' with the strength of his story. Kosmic Film Entertainment Company (P) Ltd wanted to produce quality films in Tamil. Anand, who had earlier worked as an assistant with K. Rajeshwar, Sabha, and Parthibhan, too wanted to make a film with substance without restoring to commercial gimmicks. The common goal brought them together to create a movie, that doesn't try to entertain with violence, glamour, and other commercial ingredients. Anand was able to convince Prakash Raj within 10 minutes. The busy actor cum producer could not allot more time for the young director to narrate the story. Anand used the opportunity and started narrating. Prakash Raj said 'yes' at the ninth minute. Raja (from Telugu) and Sheela don the lead roles. Seetha and Livingston play important roles. Prakash Raj in a strong and different role is said to have done wonders in his acting. Ranjith Barot has done the music. The songs, which are already out in the market sounds good with a lot of variety. The tuneful songs are in such a manner that they tell you the story. The movie sans the usual masala items, promises to be a different movie that could entertain with a strong message.

'Ramesh Kanna' comedian is a writer

Ramesh Kanna, a popular comedian these days, takes a new avatar now. He has been entrusted with the job of penning the dialogues for Lawrence Raghavendra's Tamil directorial venture Muni. The movie is being produced by Saran's Gemini Films and features Raj Kiran in the lead role. Ramesh Kanna is a one-time associate of director K S Ravikumar and had worked with him in several films. He made his directorial debut with Thodarum starring Ajith, Devayani and Heera. Unfortunately the movie did not do well at the box office and Ramesh Kanna was forced to take up acting. Back on track now penning dialogues for Muni, he is nursing the ambition of wielding the megaphone again.

A novel attempt in Kanna Nee Enakkuthanda

There is no dearth of talents in Kollywood. Many new talents are emerging everyday and each person does full justice to the job entrusted to him and many are open to experimenting too. The Music Director of Kanna Nee Enakkuthanda, Amudha Bharathy, is the latest to join this bandwagon. He has experimented with a song which goes 'Kalaiyadha Kanavae' in the film, which has been recorded without using any percussion instrument. A novel attempt indeed. Reshmi has rendered this song and this song is said to have come out well.

Kamna's healthy desire

Actress Kamna was introduced in 'Idhaya Thirudan' to the Tamil film industry. She then proceeded to act in 'Machchakaran' and a host of Telugu films. She is currently one of six heroines in the film 'Rajathi Raja' directed by Sakthi Chidambaram and starring Ragava Larencce. Kamna has recently said that it was very nice to see many heroines coming together for projects. She even termed it 'healthy'. 'Hindi cinema these days are coming up with quite a number of movies that feature many heroes. Heroines are introduced in order to pair with them. Interestingly none of them have ego clashes', she says. 'In Tamil even if there is only one hero, many heroines are teaming up in projects these days. This is a very healthy sign', Kamna added. 'Naan Avan Illai' starring Jeevan had five heroines. 'Raman Thediya Seethai' starring Cheran also has a number of heroines. So does 'Rajathi Raja'. If every artiste has the same viewpoint as Kamna, the Tamil film industry would indeed become an artistically inclined place where healthy competition would prevail.

Kannan directs Moser Baers production

The Tamil remake will be directed by R.Kannan, who was an one-time associate to Maniratnam and wielded the megaphone for the recent hit movie 'Jeyam Kondan' starring Vinay and Bhavana in the lead roles. Bollywood's popular music director Pritam has been introduced to kollywood by Moser Baer for the music of the Tamil remake of 'Jab We Met'. Pritam is the music composer for 'Jab We Met' in Hindi and all the songs were hits topping the music charts last year. The flick will have Bharath and Tamanna Bhatia in the lead roles. Both the actors are currently busy doing their other projects. The filming would commence in January 2009. Jab We Met, a simple, romantic comedy film in Hindi starring Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, which released last October was proved to be a super hit movie and owing to its huge success, it would now be remade by the corporate entity Moserbaer in four south Indian languages(Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam). With quality movies made by Moser Baer, who is also currently producing 'Poo', 'Aval Peyar Thamizharasi' among others, there is a scope for expecting the inane movies to become a thing of past. The critically acclaimed 'Raman Thediya Seethai' by Moser Baer stands as a testimony to it.
