More news →Kerala girls making big time waves
This is the season for girls from God's own Country to make waves in Tamil cinema. Following the likes of Asin and Nayantara making it very big in Tamil films, the craze for Malayalee girls seems to be hitting fever pitch. Nayantara has established her presence rather strongly in Kollywood being part of several blockbusters. Asin is flying high and she is now ready to rule the roost in even Bollywood. Navya Nair is not far behind as she is committed to act in over four films in Tamil filmdom. Udhayathara is fast rising up the ladder. Tamil Cinema will probably have one more in Udhayathara from the neighboring state and she appears to have it in her to make it big. Padmapriya is doing realistic portrayals in Kollywood. Noted Malayalam actress Meera Nandan is set to enter Tamil filmdom. The young girl, who shot to fame with 'Mulla', has been cast opposite 'Kallori'-fame Akhil in 'Valmiki', to be directed by Ananthanarayanan. Since these girls have an exposure to realistic cinema, their knowledge about the dynamics in south Indian film industry is good, say a section of directors.
From Kerala with hopes
Actor Narain and Pooja came together for the film 'Pandhaya Kozhi'. Interestingly Ramya Nambeesan, the girl from Kerala, plays a meaty role in this film. She has completed shooting for 'Raman Thediya Seethai' alongside Cheran. If both these films click, this girl from Kerala has a great opportunity to make it big. 'Pandhaya Kozhi' is directed by M A Venu. It is the story that delves into the relationship between a mother and a son. The son strives hard to keep up his mother's desire. It is said to be a pacy action movie packed with sentiment. 'Pandhaya Kozhi' will see a September release.
From Kerala with a mission
Remya Nambeesan has emerged a name to reckon with in Tamil cinema thanks to the success of 'Raman Thediya Seethai'. The young girl from Malluwood, has played a prominent role alongside actor-director Cheran in 'Raman Thediya Seethai'. With her girl-next-door-looks, she has won the critical appreciation for her performance in Raman Thediya Seethai. Now the girl is confident that she can make it big in Tamil cinema too. Says Remya, 'I played a meaty role in 'Raman Thediya Seethai'. I had the fortune of coming in two different get-ups ' a trendy ultra-modern woman and a poor house wife.' She is currently paired opposite Sakthi (son of director P Vasu) for a movie titled 'Aatta Nayakan'. Unlike Raman Thediya Seethai, it is a commercial film, I play a bubbly young girl in it, she says with glee. The movie went to floors recently. 'I have many offers coming my way and hopefully I would make it public very soon', she adds.
