'Ko 2' Box Office Collections: Mints 4.1 Crores In Three Days!
National Award-winning actor Bobby Simhaa-starrer Tamil political drama Ko 2 is off to a flyer at the Tamil Nadu box office where it has collected 4.1 Crore rupees in the opening weekend (first three days). "In its opening weekend in Tamil Nadu, the film netted Rs 4.1 crore and has already been adjudged a hit. The political season in the state has worked really well in the film's favour," trade analyst Trinath told IANS. It is worth mentioning that we had predicted that the film might collect close to 4.5 Crores from its opening weekend in Tamil Nadu alone. Directed by Sarath Babu, the film, which released on May 13 (Friday), revolves around the kidnapping of a state's Chief Minister, played by Prakash Raj, by a common man (Bobby Simha). Based on the Telugu film Pratinidhi, RS Infotainment-produced Ko 2 was lauded by critics and audiences alike for its powerful dialogues and music. The film also stars Nikki Galrani, John Vijay, Bala Saravanan and Illavarasan. Meanwhile, film-maker Sarath has clarified about veteran actor Nassar's brief role in the movie. Nassar's wife Kameela had recently expressed disappointment over Nassar's limited screen space in the film. "I guess Kameela madam's tweets were misinterpreted. She was referring to the calls she received about the length of the role in 'Ko 2'. Though Nasser sir's role is brief, the story of the film is about his character, it is the driving element of the entire screenplay. I didn't trim even a single frame of what was shot. Only a person of his stature could pull off that role, as his lines needed to be registered in the audience's mind, for the main story and its sub plots to work. I grew up watching Nasser sir's movies and I have great respect for him. I don't see it as a controversy, but as a compliment. People noticed a lot about the character even though it was brief," he has told to Deccan Chronicle.
Directing National award winners in 'Ko 2' was exciting: Sarath
Debutant director Sarath says it was quite an exciting experience to direct two National Award winners Prakash Raj and Bobby Simhaa in his upcoming Tamil political thriller "Ko 2", which is nearing completion. "Prakash Raj sir creates magic with his acting in every scene. Bobby, on the other hand, is a methodical actor and his National Award at such an early stage of his career is proof of his capability. It was so exciting to work with them," Sarath said in a statement. "The combination scenes between Prakash and Bobby are like an acting marathon. Their competitiveness in acting is a pure delight to watch," he said. The film, which also features Nikki Galrani, should not be confused as the sequel to Tamil blockbuster "Ko". "Our film is not a sequel to 'Ko'. It only takes the franchise forward by inheriting some qualities from it. 'Ko 2' is packed with plenty of surprises," he added. Produced by RS Infotainment, the film will flash the lights on menacing, behind the lines of a politician.
