Finally, the audio release date of Abhinaya Chakravarthy Kichcha Sudeep's Kotigobba 2 is confirmed. There were speculations that the audio would be launched this weekend, in a grand event but team has confirmed the date now. Teaser will be launched on July 2 as publicized, but the audio release date has been postponed. Producer Surappa Babu has said that they will launch the audio on July 9, in a simple manner and no grand event has been planned. Also he said team is looking forward for the response of audience for the teaser. Audio composed D Imman has been bagged by Anand Audio, for a very good price and they are planning to release a few song teasers before the audio launch. Anand Audio has only got the rights for Kannada version and there is no news about the audio release of the Tamil version, Mudinja Ivana Pudi. The team is looking forward to release the movie once Kabali is released as the makers are planning for simultaneous release of Kannada and Tamil in record number of theaters. Producer is aiming for a July end release, if everything goes as per the plan. Producer Surappa Babu is already getting fantastic business offers for distribution but he is waiting for the teaser and audio to be released as the buzz will only increase after that. The case is the same with the Tamil version, business will start once the audio is released. Apart from Kichcha Sudeep and Nithya Menon playing the lead roles, Prakash Raj, Nazaar, Sharath Lohithashwa, Chikkanna are playing important roles. KS Ravikumar has directed the multilingual flick.
Kotigobba 2 Rock Solid At The Box Office
Kichcha Sudeep starrer Kotigobba 2, which released on August 12 for Varamahalakshmi festival, has opened big at the box office. As the long weekend ended yesterday, collection reports for the weekend have come out, which is yet to be validated officially by six distributors who have procured rights for different regions of Karnataka. We hear that movie has grossed 22 Crores for 4 days in Karnataka. This figure includes 6.5 Crores from the most important region - Bangalore, Kolar and Tumkur where the movie is distributed by Jack Manju of Mysore Talkies. In centers like Mandya where movie was released in two theaters, 95 per cent shows were full in the weekend which validates the gigantic opening taken by this Kichcha Sudeep starrer. Same is the response in Veeresh Cinemas of Bangalore, where the movie was released in both the screens (9 shows per day). Also, as per the trade buzz, all the six distributors will meet the press soon to release the official collection figures for the weekend. If this happens, then probably it's the first time distributors are meeting the press to reveal the collection figures. The release of Tamil version was not confirmed till the last moment because of a few internal issues. So the movie was released in less number of screens and with less buzz. But the reports from Tamil Nadu suggests that movie has been liked by audiences and number of screens have been increased over the weekend. Also, movie will be released in other major centers of Tamil Nadu on August 19. We hear that Superstar RajiniKanth will be watching the movie in a day or two, in Chennai. This should boost up the buzz and collections for the Tamil version. This may not impact the Kannada collections as the movie is doing extremely well in Karnataka.
Solid Bookings For Kotigobba 2
The online bookings for Kotigobba 2, which is scheduled to release this Friday(Aug 12) is open and as expected, response has been good. Trade Pundits expect the movie to get more than 150 shows in multiplexes on day 1. Single screens have already opened their bookings and response has been good so far. However, bookings in multiplexes are expected to open later today. As per the distributors, early morning shows are confirmed in 10-15 single screens and count may increase depending on the response. Special fans' show is planned in Prasanna Theater, Magadi Road on Thursday night and this will be the first ever show of the movie. Tickets were sold out for the special show within a few hours. Prominent members of Kotigobba 2 team are expected to be part of this show. We hear that already 250 odd theaters have signed the agreements to play Kotigobba 2. Trade expected the count to reach 300 but looking at the response, it may touch 350 mark which will be the highest ever for a Kannada cinema in Karnataka. The movie will be played in both the screens of Veeresh, and this shows the confidence exhibitors/distributors have on the film. The long festive weekend and the number of screens might prove beneficial for the movie. On the social media front, the movie is trending on Twitter for the past few days and this shows the buzz movie carries on social media. In times when other language movies trend in Karnataka, it's good to see Kannada movie trending for such a long duration.
Kichcha Sudeep's Kottigobba 2 Wraps Up The Shoot
There is an update from Kotigobba 2 team, for which Kichcha Sudeep fans were waiting for all these days. The movie will release in July and the audio will be out by the end of June. The shoot of the movie completed last week, by wrapping up a song on Kichcha Sudeep and Nithya Menen in a set erected by Arun Sagar at Innovative Film City. A Harsha choreographed this melodious song composed by D Imman.
Kotigobba2 Crosses Rs 25 Crore
The box office gross collections of Kotigobba 2 has cross Rs 25 crore. The film was released on August 12 and in 18 days has managed to become one of the highest grossers. Distributor Jack Manju says the film is doing extremely well in multiplexes. "It has 106 shows a week even in the third week in multiplexes which is the highest ever for a Kannada film. I am happy, the multiplexes are happy. Hardly any Kannada films released in some multiplexes like Fun Cinemas on Cunningham Road, Innovative Multiplex and some others. We released the film in all of these and it surprised everyone that it is continuing to be screened in the third week also. Big budget films like Mohenjodaro, Rustom in Hindi and a few big English films also released but did not affect Kotigobba2," Jack Manju said.
Kotigobba2 In Other States For Sudeep's Birthday
The release of Kotigobba 2 in rest of India is scheduled for September 2 which also happens to be Sudeep's birthday. The Kannada and Tamil versions of the film released the same day. The Tamil version released in some other centres too. The Kannada version was supposed to be released in other states but was delayed. Sources said that the Kannada film will be released in 11 centres in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana including Hyderabad and several centres in Maharashtra. In other places it will be mostly in multiplexes. But a single screen is also screening the film in Kolkata. The film is being distributed by Mysore Talkies of Jack Manju. There is demand for the film to be released in Malayalam, Telugu and Bhojpuri too. The Telugu rights have been sold while the Bhojpuri and Malayalam rights are being discussed.
