More news →Mallika follows a beaten path
Taking cue from senior actresses Meena, Kousalya, Bhanupriya and Meera Vasudevan, 'Autograph' fame Mallika too has ventured to act in a tele-serial titled Anjali, which would be aired on popular Television channel. C J Baskar, who directed Radhika, Kousalya and Meera Vasudevan before, is bringing Mallika to the small screen. Mallika will play the title role in the serial Anjali, which would be telecast in the popular Television channel. Quite like other mega-serials, it is a heroine-oriented subject. The shooting went underway in Pondicherry a week ago with Pondicherry Chief Minister N Rangasamy taking part. When asked about her choice, she said,'A good storyline tempted me to accept the offer. More over I had great faith in C J Baskar's talents'. Also in the cast includes veteran actress Seetha.
Samiksha takes a new path
Actor Samiksha, who made her debut in Arindhum Ariyamalum, is now acting in tele-serials. The tall and cute-looking actor is busy acting in a few commercials and television serials in Mumbai. Though Arindhum Ariyamalum went on to succeed, her subsequent films too featured her in miniscule roles and could not help her cause. However the actor has not lost her heart. Samiksha is confident of jumping back. "I am hopeful that my forthcoming release Muruga will do well," she says.
Sangeetha takes a new path
When actresses aspire to do heroine-oriented movies, Sangeetha is a rare exception. She says, 'I shy away from doing heroine-dominated subjects.' Her strong portrayal in Uyir won her mixed reviews. She is currently playing a commercial sex worker in Dhanam and a movie opposite Madhavan titled Evano Oruvan. Says Sangeetha, 'Once Uyir created a controversy, I had several offers coming my way with prominence to my character. However, I avoided them purposefully. Acting in a heroine-oriented film is a tough job. The responsibility and the pressures are more for the heroine. A failure would mean an end to her career.' 'Dhanam is one of the interesting scripts that I came across. It centers around me. Otherwise, I prefer to play a routine heroine,' she adds.
Ajith in his spiritual path
Ultimate Star has turned more spiritual now these days that he visited and offered prayers at Shirdi Sai Baba temple last week and Chottranikarai Bhagavathy Amman temple yesterday on September 26, soon after he finished dubbing for 'Aegan' in Chennai. Before acting in the remake film 'Billa', he personally met and received greetings from Super Star where he was delighted with a feast and was presented a book 'Living Masters of Himalayas'. Ajit simply got immersed and overwhelmed while reading it. Rajnikant's involvement in spirituality and his visit to temples before the release of his films are well-known. Even during the release of 'Sivaji-The Boss', Rajnikant made a visit to Temple in Tirupati and sought the blessings. It seems that Ajit, has started following the footsteps of Super Star in his spiritual path. Ajit too has plans to go Tirupati Lord Venkateshwara temple and to the famous Kollur Thai Mookambikai Temple whilst his aegan will release at the October end.
Arun Kumar's career on revival path
When sons of yesteryear actors and actresses are finding their going easy, Arun Kumar has been witnessing problems otherwise. Though he managed to acting few films, he is still to establish a career for himself in the industry. Son of veteran actor Vijayakumar, Arun Kumar even acted in the lead role in Cheran's Pandavar Bhoomi and played a cameo in Iyarkai directed by Jananathan. But things did not work out for this actor, who doesn't seem short of any skills. Arun Kumar hopes that he can break the jinx this year. His long pending movie Thunichal directed by Thamizhan fame Majeed is nearing completion, while he pins lots of hopes on Azhagai Irukkirai Bayamai Irukkirathu which again is produced by Cheran and directed by Vijay Milton. Meanwhile, Arun Kumar would be acting in a movie to be produced by actor-director Arjun titled Durai. Once all these three movies are released, I am hopeful of turning around my career.
