Down Under has emerged as one of the important and attractive spots for shooting Tamil films. Australia and New Zealand, with their sprawling locations and picture perfect scenic spots, are just the right backdrop for the songs. In fact, Nala Damayanthi was set in Australia itself. Among others, Shankar, Susi Ganesan, Hari, Sundar C and Dharani have shot in Australia and New Zealand. Now the Pokiri team is off to Australia to shoot a couple of songs there. The film stars Vijay and Asin in the leads. This Prabhu Deva directed film is a remake of a Telugu flick of the same name. The songs are being choreographed by Raju Sundaram. Prabhu Deva has not accompanied the unit. Cameraman Nirav Shah has also joined the team. The stay is going to be only for a few days. The team will be back in the city on December 17.
Pokiri and Aalwar audios doing brisk business
It's Srikanth Deva versus Mani Sharma now. The former has come up with a mix of peppy beats and melody in Ajith's Aalwar, while the latter has scored racy tunes for Vijay's Pokiri. Both the movies are ready to hit the screens this Pongal. Says Srikanth Deva, "I am really thrilled now. Ajith's fans are happy with my output in Aalwar. I wanted to come up with mass songs. Thankfully, it worked out well." Mani Sharma's Pokiri has seven songs including a remix of yesteryear hit Vasanthamullai Polae. Both the audios are doing brisk sales and fans of both Ajith and Vijay are awaiting the D-day, for the films to hit the screens.
Pokiri completes 100-day run
Pokiri completes a successful 100-day run all across the state on Monday. A remake of a Telugu blockbuster titled the same, the success has come at the right time for Vijay. He waited for almost a year to commence Pokiri. Directed by Prabhudeva, the movie starring Asin opposite him released on Pongal this year. It is not just opened big but managed to complete a 100-day run, which is a rarity these days. Unlike his earlier films, the movie had action and humor at right mix and Vijay visited all the theatres where the movie was screened and interacted with the audience. Thanking Prabhu Deva, Vijay, says, 'I was confident that Pokiri would put up a good show at the box office. My hopes came true. I thank all my fans who made the movie click'. Interestingly the movie managed to collect huge revenue not just in Tamil Nadu but also in neighboring Kerala.
Pokiri - Celebrating the success
A mega function to celebrate the successful completion of 175-days of Pokiri's run would be celebrated in Chennai on Sunday. The function would be presided over by Kamal Haasan and veteran director K Balachander and trophies and shields would be distributed to the cast and crew of Pokiri on the occasion at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium on the occasion. Tamil Film Producer Council president Rama Narayanan would also grace the occasion. A grand cultural show would be organized on the occasion which includes a musical show by Srikanth Deva and dance performances by Namitha, Kiran, Chaya Singh among others. Vijay fans would throng the stadium from all across the State.
Will Pokiri release for Pongal?
Starring Vijay and Asin, the movie Pokiri went to floors a few months ago. Initially slated for a release this Pongal, Pokiri has music by Manisharma and is produced by Kanakarathna Movies. The latest buzz doing rounds is that the movie may not grace the theatres on Pongal day. The movie is still to be completed. The works are, however, happening in full swing. The other major Pongal releases include director Ameer's Paruthi Veeran starring Suriya's sibling Karthi and Priyamani, Ajith and Asin starrer Aalwar, Vijaya T Rajendhar's Veerasamy and 'Captain' Vijayakanth's Sabari.
Cashing in on Pokiri's success
Gone are those days when a host of Telugu movies were dubbed and released in Tamil. A spate of Tamil films are being dubbed and released in Telugu. In the last few months over a dozen movies have been dubbed and released in Telugu. Adding to the long list is Sathyaraj, Sibiraj and Namitha starrer Kovai Brothers and Dham featuring Silambarasan and Rakshita. While the former has been titled Pokiri Brothers, the latter has been named Pokirodu. Interestingly, a few months ago, Mahesh Babu had his Telugu film Pokiri being declared a huge hit. Perhaps to cash in on Pokiri's success, the Tamil films being dubbed and released in Telugu have Pokiri in its title.
