Director Rathna Siva's 'Rekka' starring Vijay Sethupathi and Lakshmi Menon in the lead role is all set to hit the screens on October 7 for the long festival weekend. The trailers promise a colourful mass entertainer. The director has said that it will be the 'Ghilli' of Vijay Sethupathi. Rathna Siva has earlier directed Arun Vijay-Karthika Nair starrer 'Vaa Deal' which is yet to release. So 'Rekka' will be the first film of the director to hit the screens. Siva has said in a recent interview that after 'Rekka' he has a script for Ilayathalapathy Vijay and he is waiting for the chance to meet the start and narrate it to him. Vijay is currently busy with 'Bairavaa' and is expected to team up with directors Atlee and Selvaraghavan for his next two films. We have to wait and see whether Rathna Siva will get the chance to meet him and narrate his script. But it is not something unlikely as Vijay is the star who is always known to encourage new and young directors.
Rekka Team Very Happy For Censor Certificate- Details Here
Vijay Sethupathu’s Rekka has been censored with a clean ‘U’ certificate and confirmed it’s presence in the Ayudha Pooja race. Apparently on October 7, Rekka will be competing with Sivakarthikeyan’s big budget romantic-comedy ‘Remo’ and Prabhu Deva-Tamannaah Bhatia’s horror-comedy ‘Devi’. Directed by Rathna Siva of Vaa Deal fame, Rekka has Lakshmi Menon playing the female lead and Imman has scored the music for the film.“#Rekka Clean”U” certified from the censor board ! Slated for October 7th release!”, posted composer Imman on his micro-blogging page. Produced by Common Man Pictures, Sivabalan Pictures is holding the TN theatrical rights of the film.
Rekka fame Sija Rose has an important role in Bairavaa
The shooting of Bairavaa is currently taking place in the outskirts of Chennai. The film features a prolific list of star cast that includes Keerthy Suresh, Sathish, Jagapathi Babu and the most happening of all Vijay. Apparently, Sija Rose who played a small but a striking role in the recent Vijay Sethupathi starrer Rekka, has an important role to play in Bairavaa too. She will supposedly be seen as a homely Thirunelveli girl in the film.
'Remo' 'Rekka' and 'Devi'- First day collections
All the three Aayudha Pooja weekend releases of Kollywood that released yesterday have taken good to very good opening at the Chennai Box Office.As the film released amid huge expectations and in a humongous number of screens , Sivakarthikeyan's 'Remo' has got the biggest opening day collection. The film has netted Rs.51 lakhs (approx) on the first day itself in Chennai. There were pre-dawn and early morning special shows that were houseful. The film is expected to perform exceptionally well in the remaining days of the weekend.It is worth noting that the collection is the net figure as the film has been exempted from the Entertainment Tax payable to the Government.VIjay Sethupathi's 'Rekka' has made approximately Rs.20 lakhs from Chennai screens on day 1, This film also had special shows screened at 8 am in many places. The film directed by Rathina Siva has got decent reviews and expected to run with houseful shows in the coming days of the weekend.Prabhudeva's comeback film 'Devi' released without big hype and has collected a decent Rs.10 lakhs (approx) in Chennai BO on its first day. Versatile actor Vijay Sethupathi's 'Dharmadurai' is successfully running in theaters and it has been declared a hit. His next release will be 'Aandavan Kattalai' directed by Manikandan of 'Kaaka Muttai' fame as the film is expected to hit the screens in later part of this month. Now we learn that Vijay Sethupathi has just completed shooting for 'Rekka'. Official sources clarify that the shooting of 'Rekka' directed by Rathna Siva has been wrapped up today. The film touted to be a commercial mass entertainer stars Lakshmi Menon as heroine and D.Imman has rendered the musical score. 'Rekka' is touted to hit the screens on October 7, 2016.
Trouble for Rekka & Remo?
Vijay Sethupathi's Rekka and Sivakarthikeyan's Remo are slated for October 7 release and both the films have already completed their censor formalities with clean U certificate. Everyone knows very well that TN Govt. provides tax exemption for films with U certificate and though these two films qualify for the same, they may not get exemptions as the elections for local governing bodies in Tamilnadu has been already announced. Among these two films, Sivakarthikeyan's Remo has more expectation, as he will be featuring in a crossdressed avatar for the first time.
