Jithan Ramesh wants to roar

Jithan Ramesh is confident that Puli Varudhu will help him revive his fortunes in the industry. Ramesh's much expected Madurai Veeran managed a lukewarm response at the box office. He is hopeful that his next Puli Varudhu will make necessary amends. The actor is happy about the way the film is shaping up. 'The film has enchanting visuals, beautiful songs and an interesting screenplay with a twist. All of us are working hard to make it an enjoyable film', he says. Mallika Kapoor plays Ramesh's heroine in the movie. She says, 'I feel that script has the necessary ingredients to make it a hit. Not only is the director but all of us working hard to make it a success'. Debutant director G V Kumar has penned the story, dialogue and screenplay besides wielding the megaphone. The cast includes Karunas, Manivannan, Saranya, Livingston and Santhana Barathi. Srikanth Deva has scored the music.

‘Singam’ to roar in Sandalwood

After stealing hearts in Tamil and Telugu, ‘Singam’, the Suriya starrer, is all set to speak in Kannada. Popular Sandalwood producer Shankare Gowda has acquired the remake rights of the movie, we learn. If sources are to be believed, the Kannada version has been named ‘Kempe Gowda’ and Sudeep will play the role of a police officer, which was beautifully enacted by Suriya in the Tamil original directed by Hari. It is said that Sudeep himself would wield the megaphone too. “He had directed ‘Just Math Mathalli’, which has Ramya opposite Sudeep himself, for the same producer Shankare Gowda,” sources add. They also have it that Kempe Gowda was the name of the person, who founded Bengaluru and hence the title has enormous value. ‘Singam’, produced by Studio Green in association with Reliance Big Pictures, was released all over Tamil Nadu by Sun Pictures.

Balakrishna's 'Lion' fails to roar at box office

In its opening weekend, actor-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna-starrer "Lion", which released amidst much fanfare, failed to roar at the box office and raked in Rs.11.2 crore in the first four days in the country. "In four days since its release on Thursday, 'Lion' managed to earn a meager share of Rs. 11.2 crore at the box office in India," trade analyst Trinath told. "You would expect it to make even more from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone but since the film opened to very unsatisfactory word-of-mouth, the numbers dropped from the second day. A big test lies for the movie at the ticket window this week," he said. Directed by Satya Deva, "Lion" features Balakrishna in dual role. The film features Trisha Krishnan and Radhika Apte in the lead roles.
