Rajkumar Hirani, the man behind films like "Munnabhai M.B.B.S" and "3 Idiots", has produced a series of ad films to promote MAX's Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign "IPL on, toh Bharat Bandh" for the upcoming DLF IPL tournament. Hirani, who has produced the films under his banner Canvas Films, has added a hint of his humorous side to the scripts. The advertisements have been directed by noted ad filmmaker Shashank Ghosh and conceptualised by advertising firm JWT. "When my partner Sanjiv Kishinchandani and I first heard the idea of the 'Bharat Bandh', I realised that it had huge potential. If I had the time, I would have directed it myself. The next best way was to produce it, offer inputs and oversee it. Finally Shashank directed them. I feel he has done a brilliant job. I'm sure these films will bring a definite smile to people's faces," Hirani said in a press statement. The rollout of the seven ad films will stretch across a period of six weeks till the launch of the DLF IPL tournament April 8. Each film describes what happens in India when the IPL is on. Shashank Ghosh, director, said: "I have tried to depict with a humorous take on how we all react to the IPL. It's been a game changer in entertainment in India and everybody at some level has altered their lifestyles and routines to accommodate it. I hope the people at large will like the series of commercials and wait with bated breath for the IPL to start." The commercial will be first launched on TV, after which it will be spread out across print, radio, internet, billboards, mobile, below-the-line and out-of-home platforms. "The DLF IPL communication on MAX has always been unique and path breaking. With the 'Bharat Bandh' idea this year, we have an immensely strong idea that the people of India will immediately identify with and relate to as well," said Sneha Rajani, senior executive vice president and business head, MAX.
Rajkumar Hirani injured, but nothing serious
"PK" filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani met with a bike accident on Tuesday morning and was admitted to the Lilavati Hospital here. He is fine and will get discharged soon, a hospital official said. Hirani reportedly fell off a motorbike, injured his jaw and ended up with a gash on the chin. On being contacted, a hospital official told: "He is getting discharged. He is absolutely fine and nothing serious." However, no further details could be confirmed. The 52-year-old filmmaker has given blockbuster hits like "3 Idiots" and the "Munnabhai" series.
Hope Rajkumars legacy continues with latest Umrao Jaan
Puru rajkumar is the son of eminent actor Late Rajkumar. He made his debut with Karishma Kapoor in Bal Brahmachari in 1996. And also proved himself in movies like Hamara Dil Apke Pass Hain, Mission Kashmir, Uljhan, Bharat Bhagya Vidhata, Badhai ho badhai, Vadh, Jaago and Mohabbat Hogai hai Tumse. now with the much awaited J.P. Dutta's Umrao Jaan. J.P. Dutta's adaption of the Urdu novel "Umrao Jan Ada" by Mirza Haadi Ruswa. Puru is playing Gauhar Mirza in this movie. 'Gauhar is a son of Kothevali who loves a Nawab. After loosing his parents he will be brought up by Kothe valies. He grows up along with Umrao later who falls in love with him. In old Umrao Jaan the character was played by Nasiruddin Shah. The movie made history in its time and as usual comparisons will be their in industry so naturally the pressure will come to do better than the original. We all know about Nasiruddin Shah's acting lets hope Puru may get good appreciations for his work in this movie. Speaking to press Puru added that working with people like J.P.Datta and Shabana Azmi. I already worked with J.P Saab in LoC for the first time. I had to emote sadness, frustration, defeat and many other emotions anyways Datta Saab got all those things from me.
Kajol bags Rajkumar Hiranis next
Kajol seems to be one busy lady these days. The actress who has been busy with her hubby's U,Me Aur Hum has a great line up of films for the new year. The actress who has already being signed alongside Shahrukh in Karan Johar's Mr.Khan has now bagged a role in Hirani's Idiots. Rajkumar Hirani's Idiots which is based on Chetan Bhagat's Five Point Someone is the story of three IIT students. The film is set to go on floors in the next few months and stars Aamir Khan. Hirani has also approached John Abraham and Saif Ali Khan for other roles in the film. It has been reported that Kajol has even spoken to Shahrukh about her character. Let's hope King Khan doesn't go the Aamir Khan way by suggesting changes in the script.
Salman is Rajkumar Santoshi's lucky mascot?
After "Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani", director Rajkumar Santoshi has once again roped in superstar Salman Khan for a cameo in his forthcoming film "Phata Poster Nikhla Hero". He says it's a mere co-incidence and not because he considers the actor his lucky mascot. "I don't think like that. It was more a need of the script," Santoshi said here Friday at a press meet of the film. "In that film ('Ajab...'), Katrina (Kaif) was a big fan of Salman and an incident happens where Salman comes in front of her. In this film, Shahid has been shown as a big fan of film stars, particularly Salman, one of the most happening stars today. "So it is just a co-incidence, not because of the lucky mascot thing," he added. However, Santoshi says if "Phata Poster Nikla Hero" works, then he will definitely start calling Salman his lucky mascot. "I wish it happens, success repeats itself. Then third time I will definitely go to Salman saying that you are lucky for me, come in my film and do a scene," he said. "Phata Poster Nikhla Hero" stars Shahid Kapoor in the lead besides Ileana D'Cruz. The film hits theatres Aug 23.
Vidyut Jammwal in Rajkumar Santoshi's next?
Actor Vidyut Jammwal, often called the new age action hero of Bollywood, has reportedly bagged a key role in filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi's next. A source close to the filmmaker said: "Rajkumar wants to make an out-an-out action film, and Vidyut Jammwal fits the bill perfectly. He will lead the film and soon after 'Phata Poster Nikla Hero' releases, this film will go on floors." However, more on the project, will be revealed later. "Right now they are still finalising the rest of the star cast for the film," added the source. The movie is likely to be produced as well as directed by Santoshi, who is currently busy promoting his "Phata Poster Nikla Hero". It stars Shahid Kapoor and Ileana D'Cruz in the lead.
