'Shaandaar' first look to release on Wednesday

The first look of Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer “Shaandaar” will be unveiled on Wednesday, but producer Karan Johar has already given a sneak peek of the romantic comedy film. Karan announced the news on micro-blogging site Twitter on Tuesday by sharing a photograph of Alia and Shahid. “And they wake up tomorrow... @aliaa08 @shahidkapoor #ShaandaarFirstLookTomorrow,” Karan captioned the image, in which both Alia and Shahid can be seen against the backdrop of a romantic view. While Alia is seen sleeping on a wooden bench, Shahid is leaning his head on her elbow. An airplane is seen leaving a vapour trail depicting two hearts. Shahid also shared the image, and tweeted: "Falling off to sleep, wake me up tomorrow #ShaandaarFirstLookTomorrow," while Alia wrote: “Sleeping... DND till tomorrow!!! #ShaandaarFirstLookTomorrow.” Directed by “Queen” director Vikas Bahl, “Shaandaar” also stars Pankaj Kapur and Sanjay Kapoor.

'Shaandaar' makers in dilemma over song release

Ever since its trailer was released earlier this month, Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt-starrer “Shaandaar” has been receiving positive reviews from all quarters. However, the makers of the forthcoming romantic comedy film have now been debating which music track from the film should be released first. National Award-winning composer Amit Trivedi has composed the music of “Shaandaar”. The music in the film's trailer has served as a teaser to the audience's ears. The trailer, which has already received more than six million views on video sharing site YouTube, has also turned out to be a draw. "It is difficult to choose which music track to release first, given the music properties the film has," the spokesperson of the film said in a statement. Directed by “Queen” fame filmmaker Vikas Bahl, “Shaandaar is set to release on October 22.

Shaandaar song gets over 2 mn views

"Gulaabo", the much-anticipated first song from "Shaandaar", has received over 2.6 million views in less than 24 hours since releasing on YouTube. The song's video, featuring the film's lead actors Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, went online on the official Zee Music Company YouTube page on Thursday -- the same day when the duo launched it with the film's director Vikas Bahl at an event here. "Shaandaar" promises to be an out-and-out youthful love story focussing on two characters Alia (played by Alia Bhatt) and Jagjinder Joginder (played by Shahid). Alia's father Bipin (played by Pankaj Kapur) adds the twist to their romance as he believes there’s no man who will be good enough for his daughter. While Alia is a dreamer, Jagjinder Joginder feels he can make anything happen. Presented by Fox Star Studios, "Shaandaar", releasing on October 22, is produced by Dharma Productions and Phantoms Films.

Post 'Shaandaar', it's 'Rangoon' time for Shahid

Shahid Kapoor is clearly not bogged down by the debacle of “Shaandaar” at the box office as he says there are “miles to go before I sleep”. Moving on, the actor is now focusing on his next project “Rangoon”. “Time to prep for #Rangoon. Miles to go before I sleep. Keep it real you all. And believe. Because...,” Shahid tweeted on Thursday. The actor also shared a photograph in which he is seen with a beard. He seems to be brooding while looking outside his car's window. To be helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj, “Rangoon” is a love story based in the 1940s, against the backdrop of World War II. It also stars Saif Ali Khan and Kangana Ranaut, and is scheduled to take off in early 2016. Meanwhile, the much anticipated film “Shaandaar”, which marked Shahid's first film after his marriage, bombed at the box office and also failed to impress critics as they described the movie as slow paced or avant-garde gone awry. Treated like a fantasy film with a backdrop of an ostentatious Indian wedding, Vikas Bahl's "Shaandaar" also features Alia Bhatt, Sanah Kapoor, Sushma Seth and Pankaj Kapur among others. It was released on October 22.

After 'Shaandaar' debacle, Vikas Bahl still raring to go

The super duper success of "Queen" raised the bar of expectations from Vikas Bahl. But his "Shaandaar" failed to elicit a hearty response. The filmmaker says his only aim is to work harder for a better film. "I loved that movie 'Shaandaar' so setback was not for me. I think we just have to work harder to make the next film and hopefully you (I) don't get written off as a director. The idea is to get back to the writing board and work hard for the next film," Bahl told a group of reporters on the sidelines of Film Bazaar here on Tuesday. "Shaandaar", which was termed as the year's biggest, craziest and zaniest wedding celebration on the silver screen, turned out to be a damp squib at the box office despite its star cast featuring names like Pankaj Kapur, Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. The film, which marked Shahid's first film after his marriage, tried to be a fantasy film with a backdrop of an ostentatious Indian wedding, and released on October 22. Bahl, who tasted massive success from all quarters with "Queen", said: "I still need some time to gauge what went wrong with 'Shaandaar'. I will do it in some time, but I think the sense of humour did not work with the people... Only I found it funny. "I think there were too many stories to follow and people didn't figure out exactly what to follow," he said. The director also said the film was not an arrow shot in the dark as he "knew what he was doing". "I was aware what I was doing and I took my chances in doing that. I feel the back stories and animation to connect to the storytelling was not simple... I think I experimented too many things," he said. Bahl will continue to experiment with films. "There is no other choice," he told.
