'Singh Is Kinng', among the most keenly anticipated titles of 2008, will reveal its first look on Baisakhi, April 13. The Akshay Kumar-Katrina Kaif starrer releases worldwide on August 8. From Vipul Shah & Anees Bazmee, the hit makers of 'Namastey London', 'Waqt', 'No Entry' and 'Welcome', 'Singh Is Kinng' is a whopper of an action comedy about an adorable bumpkin from Punjab who ends up in Australia in a zany situation that he had never imagined ! The minute-long teaser of 'Singh Is Kinng', which will reveal superstar Akshay Kumar's stylish new Sikh get-up, will play across television channels from the following Sunday. The trailer will also play in cinemas worldwide from April 25, along with 'Tashan'. 'Singh Is Kinng' is an Indian Films - Studio 18 release.
SINGH IS KINNG gets an international music connection
The Vipul Shah-produced "SINGH IS KINNG" is getting bigger by the day. The latest on the film, according to industry sources, is that legendary rapper, Snoop Doggy Dogg will rap with superstar Akshay Kumar in the keenly anticipated film! The sources add that the celebrity rapper is likely to render a verse for the song and shoot a music video with Kumar very soon that will go on air well before the release of the film on August 8. The film's main composer Pritam is not connected with the song, which is being handled independently by Akshay and Vipul. The Snoopy track is likely to form a part of the film's soundtrack, to be released by Junglee Music. Officials close to the film will not comment at this juncture but are likely to make a formal announcement soon. "SINGH IS KINNG" is an Indian Film Company-Studio 18 release worldwide.
SINGH IS KINNG - Now in Poland
First there was news about the astronomical MG for the music of SINGH IS KINNG, one of the highest ever in recent times. Then followed news about the sale of its Mumbai territory for a kingly sum. Now the Akshay Kumar-starrer is heating up with distributors in Europe as well. Even before the release of the first promo on television, distributors from France, Germany, Spain and other markets are queuing up for a day-and-date release of the film on 8th August. The first of the European markets to witness closure on the film is Poland, a non-traditional market, which has seemingly witnessed a record closure way higher than what some of the recent biggies went for. Remarks Tanuj Garg of Studio 18, "We have pre-sold Singh Is Kinng and Kidnap to Poland at an impressive price and stand committed to developing this market. However, we are looking at a slightly deferred release here. Singh Is Kinng is the hottest film on the circuit today and deserves a fair price at which both buyer and seller can make money."
"SINGH IS KINNG songs would be chartbuster" - Akshay Kumar
The keenly awaited Snoop Dogg-RDB number for Singh Is Kinng has been recorded at last and will form a part of the film's soundtrack when it releases. At present, there are plans to shoot the video in Los Angeles, where Akshay is headed for another film shoot. Both Akki and Katrina haven't stopped raving about the track! Remarks Kumar, "The song is mind-blowing. I made a few friends listen to it and they haven't stopped gushing about it. I am confident that just like the rest of the soundtrack this will go on to become a major chartbuster." Katrina seconds Akki's sentiments. "I've heard it and it's outstanding. If I'm right, it's the first real hip-hop song in a Hindi movie. I know that girls are supposed to be an integral part of hip-hop videos but I don't know whether there will be place for me in this video!" she laughs. "It's very male-dominated and I don't want to be a prop. With Akshay and Snoop, it will rock anyway!" she adds. Meanwhile, the title track of the film, rendered by Neeraj Shridhar and composed by Pritam, is likely to go on television later this week. Singh Is Kinng releases worldwide on August 8 and previews in select locations on August 7. It is an Indian Films-Studio 18 release.

After dazzling the audience in Los Angeles and Toronto, Akshay Kumar had Vancouver in raptures, as he landed in a chopper to promote 'Singh Is Kinng'. Catapulting the hype around Singh Is Kinng to a new level, Akshay Kumar landed in Vancouver last Saturday to promote his upcoming release. The film's worldwide distributor, Studio 18, flew Akshay from Los Angeles to Vancouver in a private jet. Upon landing in Vancouver, he immediately boarded a specially hired chopper that took him to the famous PNE (Pacific National Exhibition) Ground for a concert. As his limo rolled into the venue, the cheering fans went ballistic. Known for its enormous Sikh community, Vancouver had its natives flocking in thousands to see Kumar on stage, as he enthralled visitors for half an hour with a live interaction and dance moves to the title track of Singh Is Kinng, not once but twice, by public demand. 'Who is behind a successful sardar?' he asked the crowd. The women roared with delight when he beamed, 'His sardarni!' Following the event at PNE, the limo took him to The Fairmont Airport Hotel for an exclusive press conference by Studio 18 US, where he revealed, 'Singh Is Kinng is my first production. It means the world to me because my father's named is attached. It is simple, honest and positive; which are the values propounded by my father.' Commenting on how the film and its title came about, he remarked, 'When I read the phrase Singh Is King on a truck-back in Jaipur, I told my partner (Vipul Shah) that we had to make a film with this title. That was the starting point. We had no cast, no story, no director, but everything fell in place thereafter!' Upon completion of the conference, the khiladi-turned-kinng promptly rushed to the adjacent Vancouver airport to board his private jet back to Los Angeles.
