The Madras High Court on Monday dismissed a petition by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) seeking a stay on the release of superstar Kamal Haasan's Tamil film "Uttama Villain" along with the deletion of a song about Lord Vishnu. Pointing out that there was no merit in the plea, Justice T Raja dismissed the writ petition. According to the petitioner, the lyrics of the song had belittled a conversation between Prahlad (a devotee of Lord Vishnu) and his father Hiranyakaship (a demon) and this hurt the feelings of the Hindu community. The VHP had condemned Kamal Haasan and demanded a ban on the film. It also said that if the film was released in cinemas on Friday, the whole Hindu community will be put to shame. Directed by Ramesh Aravind, the film that features Kamal Haasan in the lead is the story of an eighth century theater artist and a modern-day superstar.
Uttama Villain set for September 10 release
Kamal Haasan’s Uttama Villain is nearing completion and the movie is left with 15 days of shoot schedule which will be wrapped by July. The filmmakers are planning to release the film on September 10 release. Ramesh Aravind is wielding the megaphone for the movie and the current schedule is taking place in lavishly erected in sets in Chennai. Crucial scenes of eight century are being filmed. Uttama Villain Releases on Oct 2?
Universalstar Kamal Haasan's Uttama Villain release is being planned for Gandhi Jayamthi, on October 2nd. Uttama Villain is the joint production venture of Lingusamy's Thirrupathi Brothers and Kamal's Raaj Kamal Films banner. Anil, a distributor from Kerala has reportedly blocked Shenoys Ernakulam theaters for the four days longest weekend from Oct 2-4. Directed by actor Ramesh Aravind, Uttama Villain has recently wrapped shooting. Pooja Kumar, Jayaram, Andrea, Parvathi, Nasser, Urvashi, Parvathy Nair and others are part of Uttama Villain cast. Uttama Villain music is by M. Ghibran.
'Uttama Villain' producers to settle all dues before release
The producers of Kamal Haasan-starrer "Uttama Villain", which releases in cinemas on May 1, have given an undertaking in Madras High Court that they will settle all dues before release. On Friday, producers N. Lingusamy and his brother N. Chandra Bose of Thirrupathi Brothers have assured to repay a loan of Rs.2 crore with interest to Thangam Cinemas. According to an agreement, Thirrupathi Brothers had to give the copyright and distribution of "Uttama Villain" to Thangam Cinemas if the loan was not repaid before the release of the film. Thangam Cinemas moved to court after a cheque given by the producers bounced. When the case came for hearing, the produces promised to settle the loan on or before April 28. Justice K. Ravichandra babu posted the case for April 28.
Vai Raja Vai reaps Uttama Villain Collections

No clarity yet on 'Uttama Villain' release
The release of Kamal Haasan -starrer "Uttama Villain" on Friday remains uncertain as theaters in Tamil Nadu have cancelled the first few shows. The delay in the release is due to some financial problems between the makers of the movie and financiers. The early morning and matinee shows across the state stand cancelled. "Talks are going on between the producers and financiers. The film is likely to release in the evening," a source from the film's unit told. Apparently, the film's producers Thirupathi Brothers owe Eros International, who are distributing the film worldwide, nearly Rs.5 crore. The film's shows have also been cancelled in Karnataka, Andhra and Telangana. Directed by Ramesh Aravind, the film features Kamal Haasan as an 8th century artist and modern-day superstar.
