Uyir is his life now
Srikanth is finally relieved. His Mercury Pookal has managed to send the cash registers ringing. The actor now waits for the release of Uyir, which he says would repeat the magic of Mercury Pookal. It is a good love story with a thriller element in it, says Srikanth. 'The hero encounters an obstacle, unusual in nature. How he overcomes forms the rest of it.' Besides Malayalam girl Samvrutha, Pithamagan fame Sangeetha is also in the cast. Music is by Joshua Sridhar. Sami, who has worked with the likes of Parthiban, is wielding the megaphone. Uyir is set for release this May.
Uyir gets life
Finally, Srikanth's Uyir will hit theatres on 30 June. The movie directed by debutant Samy featuring Malluwood lass Samvrutha and Sangeetha in the lead roles alongside Srikanth. 'Uyir is a love story with a unique treatment to the subject. Here, the lover-couple face many problems and undergo a lot of turmoil. But they stay together and overcome all obstacles at the end. The film will surely have an impact on today's youth who get into depression easily and attempt suicide for love failures,' Srikanth explains. Playing the role of Sundar, the protagonist, has been both a challenge and rewarding experience to Srikanth. 'To be honest, I had lived as Sundar during the shooting of the film and director Samy, making his debut, has done a commendable job.', Srikanth says. Produced by Sri Balaji Cine Creations, another highlight of this film is its woman cinematographer, Fauziya who had been part of Revathi's Mitr - My Friend, an all woman film project, and the music by Joshua Sridhar, who composed scintillating numbers in his debut film Kaadhal.
