Shooting in live locations extremely challenging: 'Vil Ambu' director

Nearly 70 percent of forthcoming Tamil crime drama "Vil Ambu" was shot in the bustling streets of Coimbatore, and its director Ramesh Subramaniam said the whole experience was taxing and challenging. "We must've shot about 70 percent on the streets of Coimbatore, and most of it was fight and chase sequences. It was extremely tough to manage the crowd, but we didn't mind it because we wanted everything to be realistic," Subramaniam told. The film, which may release in theatres on Thursday, features Sri, Harish Kalyan, Srushti Dange and Chandini T in important roles. "Most of the scenes on the streets were shot with real people. Although the whole experience was taxing, especially running around with cameras for the perfect shot, we're happy that the output has come out very well," he said. How did he succeed shooting on the streets? "I was born and bred in Coimbatore. Since I knew most of the people in the locality where we shot, I could manage to shoot without much hassle. I'm also thankful to them for their support and understanding," he said. The film is a journey of two characters. "It's humans who are responsible for each other's loss or gain. The story is about how the loss of one person becomes the gain of the other," he said, and added everything in the film, including the action and performances, has been handled very realistically. Heaping praise on his lead actors Sri and Harish, he said: "Both of them will be seen in very contradicting roles. Sri, particularly, will be seen in a very different role".

Vil brings two successful names together

NIC Arts Chakravarthy and S J Suryah came up with hit in Vaali. After a long gap, the two have come together for a movie titled Vil. Interestingly, the movie would feature Suryah before the camera. Story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Prabakar. The movie features Suryah in the role of a physically-challenged youth. Unlike his recent films as hero, Vil would portray a different Suryah. His character has a different dimension. Hopefully it would click with the masses, says Prabakar. Suryah is desperate for a hit to sustain his place in the industry.

It's different for 'Vil'

S J Suryah has commenced shooting for his next 'Vil'. After a brief exile, the actor-director has commenced shooting for the movie which is about a physically challenged youth. Says Suryah, 'Iit would be a different one from my earlier movies. I play a physically-challenged youth and Sherin is cast as heroine. It has a racy script and would not be a typical Suryah film'. The movie carries a strong message narrated in a commercial format, Vil is produced by NIC Arts Chakravarthy. Says Suryah, 'It was Chakravarthy who gave me a break in filmdom with Valee. To direct a movie again for him is a delightful experience'.

Hari to direct Suriya in Vil

Director Hari is fully immersed in his work. He is shooting Vishal for Thamiraparani. With a major part of the movie completed, Hari has started the post-production works of Thamiraparani. Close on the heels of this film, Hari would direct Suriya. The movie has been tentatively titled Vil. Says Hari, 'After Thamiraparani, I would be doing a movie with Suriya. The story and the script are ready. On completing Vil, I would venture to direct Bharath.' Hari's Aaru featuring Suriya had a good run in Tollywood. It has emboldened Suriya to join hands with Hari again. Hari is a master of masalas. His Samy and Tamizh are good examples of that.
