The presence of a Bollywood star can change the whole image in which a television show is seen by the viewers. The game will be able to gather enough steam and hype just because of the star going to host the programe. Even though King of Bollywood Shah Rukh was the first one after Amitabh Bachchan to add glamour to a television show, it took a long time for the other leading stars of B-Town to actually look up the possibility of lending their brand name for the T.V. Now we all know how King Khan host a programe, but ever thought about the other khan , the muscle man Salman Khan to be the centre of attraction of a new programe? Well it's going to happen. The rumors turned out to be true. '10 Ka Dum' the new show going to aired on Sony Entertainment Television will have Salman as the man in charge. The participants can try their luck in making up to Rs 10 crores in '10 Ka Dum'. Salman is known as an expert in the art of muscle building, he is known as an actor with a great skill in tickling the funny bones, and given his long years of experience as a showman and being a favourite star to many, it will not be a problem to utilize his star charisma for making the show successful. But still, Salman reportedly is not taking the coming show lightly. Whenever he gets time, the superstar is said to be practicing with his friends and family members in a mock studio set exclusively built for Salman to get his act together before the show starts. '10 ka Dum' has been reportedly conceived by Sony Television for competing with 'Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain' of Star Plus going to be hosted by the experienced King Khan. So Salman, you ready for a competition with Shah Rukh in television as well, uh!
War of words between Shama and Bhajji
While Sushmita Sen, the fascinating judge of the latest reality dance show 'Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena' on Colors is all praise for the sensuous Shama Sikander, the newbie is in no mood to take things lying down from competitor Harbhajan Singh aka Bhajji. "Shama, you are wonderful with expressions and one of the most fabulous dancers I've ever seen," remarked an impressed Sush. The glamour queen along with co-judge Wasim Akram even gave great marks to the Vinod Kambli-Shama Sikander team. But when the audience failed them with low marks, Shama was quick to voice her displeasure, saying the audience could be more "discerning". This ruffled staunch competitor Bhajji who felt her remarks were directed at him. What followed was a war of words. Bhajji criticised Shama saying she was "insensitive towards competitors and was just shooting her mouth off". His curt comment hurt the girl more, who retaliated, "I don't want to engage in a battle of wits. This is a dance competition so let's stick to great dancing, instead of one-upmanship." Even her partner Kambli came to her rescue by seconding her opinion. Wonder how the over-talkative Bhajji would have felt. Not too nice. Because for a change, he did not respond, preferring to shut his famous mouth.
The war of Ks
It seems that Kareena Kapoor, the six-crore-per-film girl and the unchallenged queen of Bollywood has started to get some competition. Her every move, pay package, big endorsements, multiple film deals with major production houses and the number of films signed are being matched up. And guess who is the new born contender for Ms.Kapoor?. It's none other than pretty Katrina Kaif who reportedly is trying to run in a parallel track as that of Bebo. With or without Katrina's knowledge, each time Kareena makes a major move, next day news of Katrina doing almost a similar deal floats in the industry. A source close to Bebo says that Kareena feels Katrina is deliberately trying to match her steps. This can be because every time she signs a film for an 'X' number of crores, next day a same announcement is made of Katrina doing the same. Is this just a typical Bollywood rumour remains to be seen. Kareena is the only actress to sign a deal with TV18 for Rs. 3 crore is the fact. Next day Salman's girl signing two films with the same production house for Rs 6 crore emerged. Reports of Kareena negotiating a six crore-film deal with Ashtavinayak were followed by Katrina lapping up a two-film deal with Reliance for 12 crores. The 'Race' girl closely follows Kareena each time she signs endorsements too. Reports of Katrina doing an item song in Ashtavinayak's 'Blue' for 1.5 crore was laughed at by a Kapoor insider who said it was just 75 lakhs. But an industry analyst (on the condition of anonymity) says there need not be a question of comparison running between these two stars. The source also reveals about the performance oriented roles of Kareena in 'Chameli' and 'Omkara' while Katrina has so far done only "candy floss glamour roles." Kareena has been commanding films and doing endorsement on her terms. The brands aproach her because they feel she represents the femme of today and Katrina on her part has a long route to cover if she has to be spoken on par with the Kapoor girl. As Kareena is acting in Salman and Sohail Khan's home production 'Main Aur Mrs Khanna', and is also close to the Khan family, she is keeping control over her fiery self. She has kept her calm so far everytime she encountered Katrina. Lets hope that fireworks don't fly next time when Bebo meet s Katrina, and all this comparison about these two dames remain rumors.
Another war cry from Aamir
Ego clashes and rivalry props up when there is a reason. So does any Bollywood enthusiast know why Superstar Aamir Khan called the badshah of B-Town Shah Rukh Khan No.2 through which he indirectly conveyed that he is the right contender for the No.1 slot some time back. No one knows. King Khan gave a reply in his own way laughing, but then it was back to business and no war of words having enough stuff for the media to chase followed. So what has provoked the versatile Aamir Khan to again target Shah Rukh through his blog by saying "Shah Rukh is licking my feet and I am feeding him biscuits every now and then. What more can I ask for. Aamir Khan of course makes it quite clear that he is not referring to the film star Shah Rukh but to a dog named after the megastar in his Panchgani home that too not owned by himself but by the caretakers of his home. The director of 'Taare Zameen Per' also add in his blog that the dog was named Shah Rukh by the caretakers only because the puppy was brought to the house on the day King Khan was shooting for a commercial in the house some years back. Before finishing up his explanations about the name of the dog and its history Aamir takes a final dig at Shah Rukh by stating that some of his friends even think that he bought the house because of the dog named Shah Rukh that came with it. Aamir ends up with providing the readers of his blog with a chance to guess whether they think he is a serious fan of Shah Rukh if he has to buy a house with a dog named after the star. Is this an indicator of an old hidden grudge of Aamir towards Shah Rukh that Mr. Perfectionist is dying to let out? Let the Khans say it themselves. But Aamir, whatever people say to your comments, you have done a good deed in making a celebrity out of a dog.
Rooh - a tug of war
We had recently commented that Rooh is a free spirit and will commence shooting under the Sippy banner from 5th March 2006. It seems the film does not wish to come out of that mood of controversies. It recently had cleared the entire blur on itself that had occurred due to a tussle between Ramesh Sippy and Alisha the lead actress of the film. One controversy just got over and another crept in. This time it is to do with the title. Filmmakers Ravi Patwa and Sanjay Khandelwal have come forward to claim the title of the film. They claim that they have registered the title in their name two years ago with the Association of Motion Pictures and TV Programme Producers. They apparently even have evidence to substantiate their claim. The duo has been working on the film for over two years on its finances and all the pre production work is complete. Their film Rooh also was going to commence shooting from the same date as Vikram Bhatt's film. They did not make a noise about this name snatching because they had thought that Bhatt and Sippy would name their film as Fear. But now that their film is also titled Rooh there is confusion in the industry. Let's hope for the best.
Tug-of-war over titles
Madhur Bhandarkar and Guddu Dhanoa are having a little problem over a film title, Traffic. It seems Dhanoa's Sunny Deol - Priyanka Chopra starrer film Deodhar Gandhi is a movie based on an auto rickshaw driver and so Dhanoa thinks 'Traffic' will be a more suited title but that name is already registered by Bhandarkar. Bhandarkar is also facing trouble for his movie title, Signal. That name is already registered by another director. The movie is based on life at Mumbai's traffic signals so he requires the title 'Traffic' if 'Signal' can't be used.
