More news →'Wazir' script took 5 years to complete Vidhu Vinod Chopra
The script of "Wazir", directed by "Shaitaan" fame Bejoy Nambiar and starring megastar Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar, and Aditi Rao Hydari with John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh have cameo roles, took five years to complete, co-producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra said on Wednesday. Speaking at the unveiling its teaser for media, Chopra, who has produced the film with Rajkumar Hirani, said the script wasn't an easy task for the makers. "We've spent five years to create the characters of Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar. I'm extremely grateful to them for bringing these characters to life," said Chopra, who was also a co-writers of the film along with Abhijat Joshi. Asked about the extensive writing process, Chopra also said, "It takes us 4-5 years to write our scripts if you see our films. And that is the reason, our films are of a certain level. "We are not a studio and we don't have to pay salaries to 400 people. We are not in any hurry. We are bit lazy too. Right from 'Parinda' to 'PK', all have taken time to write, as we only back those projects we believe in."
'Wazir' to release on January 8, trailer attached to 'Spectre'
Filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar's upcoming drama film “Wazir”, starring Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar and Aditi Rao Hydari in lead roles will release on January 8 next year. The trailer of the film will be out on Wednesday and will be attached with the twenty fourth James Bond film, “Spectre”, which hits screens in India on November 20. This will be the first time that Amitabh and Farhan would be seen sharing screen space together. While Amitabh,73, essays the role of a Kashmiri Pandit in “Wazir”, Farhan,41, will be seen as as an ATS officer. Co-produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Aquib Khan and Rajkumar Hirani, “Wazir” is written by Chopra along with Abhijat Joshi.
'Wazir' is an intelligent, smart and modern film: Big B
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan says his next film “Wazir”, in which he essays a paralysed man, is an intelligent and modern film laced with a lot of emotions. “WAZIR... an intelligent smart and modern film. Two minds, a common cause and a game of chess... woven beautifully into the fibre of the story the objects of desire... the players, the ‘mohra’ and the quality of their presence in a story of immense emotion,” the 73-year-old posted on his blog. The megastar has been busy promoting the film, which is distributed by Reliance Entertainment and will release on January 8. The movie is directed by Bejoy Nambiar, and also features Farhan Akhtar. But “Wazir” is not the only film that’s grabbing Big B’s attention as he is also focussing on another project titled “TE3N”, which is being shot in Kolkata. Amitabh will be seen along with Vidya Balan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the Ribhu Dasgupta directorial. Produced by Sujoy Ghosh, “TE3N” will release later this year.
'Wazir' mints Rs.5.57 crore on opening day
Megastar Amitabh Bachchan and actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar starrer action thriller film “Wazir” collected Rs.5.57 crore on its first day. The Bejoy Nambiar directorial, which released on Friday, has received a good response in multiplexes. The film collected Rs.4.07 crore overseas on first day, thus taking its opening day worldwide total to Rs.9.64 crore. “It is very touching that a film which opened at 10 percent was running at 80-90 percent in most cinemas by the time the day ended on Friday. It is running to almost full houses today (Saturday), and I'm grateful to my audience for that,” filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who has produced the film, said in a statement. The film, which also stars Aditi Rao Hydari, Neil Nitin Mukesh and John Abraham among others, tells the story of two unusual friends - a paralysed chess grandmaster (Amitabh) and a grief stricken ATS officer (Farhan).
'Wazir' mints Rs.21.01 crore in opening weekend
Director Bejoy Nambiar's drama thriller "Wazir", starring Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar, has collected over Rs.20 crore in its opening week. The movie released on Friday and made Rs.5.61 crore on its opening day. It witnessed a good growth on Saturday and Sunday. "Wazir" collected Rs.7.16 crore on Saturday and Rs.8.24 crore on Sunday, making its domestic weekend collection to a cumulative of Rs.21.01 crore, read a statement. The movie, co-produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani, also features Neil Nitin Mukesh, Aditi Rao Hydari and John Abraham.
'Wazir' mints Rs.44 crore in first week
Bejoy Nambiar's "Wazir" has minted Rs.30.05 crore in its opening week in the domestic market, while internationally the movie has made Rs.14.22 crore. Made at a budget of Rs.35 crore, “Wazir” has recovered its production cost, read a statement issued on behalf of the film's makers. The movie, co-produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani, features Amitabh Bachchan, Farhan Akhtar, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Aditi Rao Hydari and John Abraham. A crime thriller, "Wazir" tells the story of two unusual friends, a wheelchair-bound chess grandmaster and a grief-stricken ATS officer, who are brought together by a peculiar twist of fate as part of a wider conspiracy that has cast a dark shadow over their lives.
