Ae Dil Hai Mushkil goes seamlessly from a boisterous first half marked by nightclub numbers and Hindi film ditties (Gaata Rahe mera dil, Tohfa tohfa laya laya, Baby doll main sone di) to a more intense second segment propped up by Aaj jaane ki zid na karo and Mujhse pehli si mohabbat mere mehboob na maang. ADHM is by far Karan’s best film to date: mature, sure-handed and thoroughly entertaining.
Prefer cartoon to remake of 'Andaaz Apna Apna': Raveena
Actress Raveena Tandon says she would prefer if classic comedy "Andaaz Apna Apna" is made into a cartoon film rather than a remake. "I think I would be happy if 'Andaaz Apna Apna' could be made as a cartoon film rather than a Bollywood remake or sequel. I believe once a film is considered a classic, it is not a great idea to remake a film," she said at the media interaction on Mighty Mom Awards and press screening of Chota Bheem Himalayan adventure. "The chemistry between Aamir and Salman or Lolo (Karisma Kapoor) and me was a different magic altogether. It was a great experience," the 41-year-old actress said. Raveena, who was part of many commercial successes like "Dilwale", "Mohra", "Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi" and "Ziddi" during the 1990s, said she would like to work with new actors but everything depends on the character. She said she has worked with newcomer Amit Bashisht in "Shabd", which is directed by Onir. Asked which of her films she likes to watch over and over again, she said "Mohra" and "Andaaz Apna Apna". Tandon made a comeback in Bollywood in Anurag Kashayp's "Bombay Velvet", playing a sultry jazz singer. After completing Onir's "Shabd", where she plays a socialite, the actress has also reportedly committed to Anurag Kashyap's "Return Gift".
Every film of Priyanka a milestone: Mannara Chopra
"Zid" actress Mannara Chopra says every film of her star cousin Priyanka Chopra is a milestone. Asked about Priyanka's best films, Mannara said: "I really like a couple of her films. One is 'Barfi!' and second is 'Aitraaz', which was very different. Every film of hers is a milestone, so there are several other such films." Would she like to steal any role from Priyanka? "I don't think I can steal any role from my sister, but I can learn a lot from her and I can adapt that learning in my forthcoming films," she said. Mannara did share that having a star sister leads to rise in people's expectations. "Bur there should be zeal inside you. If you don't have that zeal in you, then no support system can help you," she said. She said Priyanka's role in "Bajirao Mastani" impressed her. "I went for the trial of 'Bajirao Mastani' and it's not because she's my sister that I have to appreciate her. But I really loved her performance. From what she said in the film, I felt that she conveyed a lot more than that and I was impressed by that," she said. Priyanka will next be seen on the big screen as a police officer in "Jai Gangaajal". "I'm actually looking forward to 'Jai Gangaajal' because I had gone to Bhopal during the shooting and I have seen the sets and witnessed their shooting for about one and half weeks. So, I'm excited to see how those scenes which I experienced live, have come out on the big screen," she said.
John to play a Parsi Boy
John Abraham will soon be seen playing a Parsi boy in internationally acclaimed photographer and screen writer Sooni Taraporevala's debut film called Little Zizou. Sooni has been a close friend and associate of Mira Nair and this would be his first production. The film title bares resemblance to French footballer Zidane's nick name. The film has the background of football, but John's character does not have anything to do with the sport. Although John has a short role in the film, it's a crucial role. Aishwaryas French Connection
After featuring in numerous English and Hindi films, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has now extended over to foreign language cinema. Pretty lady Ash will soon be seen in the French film Asterix at the Olympics. The film that stars one of French cinema's most versatile actor Gerard Depardieu will be screened in Mumbai at the upcoming French Film Festival. The film is touted to be the most expensive European film at 93 million dollars. The film has been extensively shot in Tunisia and Morocco. The film will also see the likes of Formula one champ Michael Schumacher, soccer star Zinedine Zidane and Hollywood action star Jean Claude Van-Damme. Ash's role has been kept under wraps but sources suggest that Ash has bagged a special role in a film that doesn't have any female lead character.
Priyanka Chopra to be seen opposite Sunny Deol
Years back Priyanka Chopra made her debut opposite Sunny Deol with a small role in 'The Hero'. Though the film was a success, she was noticed more in her second film 'Andaaz' where she had a meaty role opposite Akshay Kumar. This was the time when she signed movies opposite Sunny, Akshay and other top stars. While she had a runaway success with Akshay in all the films she starred opposite him over the years, her project with Sunny paaji, 'Deodhar Gandhi', was stuck for years. In fact there were also rumors of the film getting shelved as years passed by and the film's shooting didn't even reach the finishing line. But now the wait is over as the film is gearing up for release with a new title 'Big Brother'. An action drama by Guddu Dhanoa who has given Sunny successful films like 'Ziddi' and 'Salakhen' in the past, 'Big Brother' appears to be a vintage Sunny film. With Priyanka's graph soaring today as a leading lady, it would be interesting to see how her pairing looks with Sunny in a film that was tailor-made for the action hero!
