Auditya's Rebel Ready

It has been nearly three years in the making, but Rebel, the Rajendra Singh Babu directed film starring his son Auditya seems to be finally set for the final course towards release. Two posters of the film were this week made public by Auditya, announcing that the audio of the film will be released shortly. The film could therefore have a September release. The posters show Auditya with a smoking gun. It was in December 2010 that Auditya registered the title Rebel. The film was launched the following year and was said to be about a spy. Babu had announced that permission from the armed forces has been sought for shooting. However, after a year, the film stopped making news. When people had almost forgotten the film, it has come back to life. Without much fanfare, the shooting has been completed. Babu had directed his son's debut Love a decade ago. Now it is to be seen if the father-son combination works with an action film.

Aditya Chopra listed among "50 Powerful People of India"

Aditya Chopra has been listed among "50 Powerful People of India" for the year 2006, in the latest edition of INDIA TODAY Magazine. He is one of the youngest people is this list which features some of the biggest luminaries of India, including industrialists, businessmen, sports people and other professionals across various segments. As Vice-Chairman of Yash Raj Films, Aditya Chopra is the driving force behind all the expansion plans and visions of the company. He remains one of the most charismatic success stories of Indian Cinema and is ingeniously paving the path for Yash Raj Films to be one of the majors in the world. Following are the excerpts from INDIA TODAY Magazine - Edition: March 20, 2006 HIGH & MIGHTY - 50 POWER PEOPLE 2006 India Inc. icons, media moguls, policy mavens and cultural impresarios. The power of elite 2006 is dominated by the dreamers and doers of a globalize society. Number 18: ADITYA CHOPRA (Producer) Because Yash Raj Films (YRF) made Rs. 130 crore at the box office last year from three successive films. Because while Yash Chopra is the public face of the company, his son has quietly powered the company into distribution, audio, home video, and now a Rs 100-crore state-of-the-art air-conditioned studio, where interiors have been designed by wife Payal. Because his "must-watch-every-new-film-in-a-theatre-on-Friday" theory allows him to tap into contemporary culture. Because nothing in his company escapes his eagle eye, from the pictures sent to the media to the font on premiere invites. Because while other filmmakers say give the market what it wants, he says the market should want what he gives. Because he can make, or unmake, Bollywood stars. Master-of-the-universe move: Has invested in a film development and special projects division which works on scripts by new writers, surprising in an industry which puts wordsmiths at the bottom of the food chain. Fetish: Never gets photographed or interviewed.

Aditya Chopra to direct Dhoom III?

It's been a long time since Aditya Chopra got into the director's hot seat. His last release was 'Mohabbatein' way back in 2000. If sources are to be believed then Chopra shall be making a grand comeback with 'Dhoom III'. Two of the biggest Khans Shahrukh and Saif shall be starring in it. There has been a speculation doing the rounds that SRK will be essaying a negative character in the film. And in spite of a stellar performance in 'Dhoom II' Hrithik Roshan won't be a part of it. But his muse Aishwarya Rai in all probability will be a part of this venture. With Aditya Chopra getting into the hot seat the stakes have risen by manifolds. His debut venture 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' is one of the all time big hits of Indian film industry. And unarguably he is one of the most powerful men in Bollywood today. Gear up for big announcements soon.

Mega Star, Padma Bhushan, Dr Chiranjeevi's latest film 'Shankar Dada Zindabad' is coming up as a good message-oriented film after 'Indra, Tagore, Shankar Dada MBBS and Stalin'. The shooting of the film is progressing on a brisk pace in and around Hyderabad, while Devisri Prasad is providing tunes for this film. Several audio companies have competed to bag the audio rights of this film. However, Aditya Music was able to grab the opportunity to market the audio at a fancy rate. It may be recalled here that it was Aditya which had marketed the audio of 'Shankar Dada MBBS'. It created a record by selling 7.5 lakh cassettes in the first batch itself. Now Aditya is planning to break the record with the sale of cassettes of this sequel film, say representatives from Gemini Film Circuits. One more thing here to mention is that it was Aditya which had also bagged the audio rights of 'Sivaji' of Rajanikanth.
