When Katrina Kaif was offered a leading role in Anees Bazmee's sequel to his 2002 heist-thriller, 'Aankhen,' she was less than impressed. Even the stellar cast, comprising of Amitabh Bachchan, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and two other A-listers, a gripping script, narrated by the makers and the lure of a remuneration twice her usual fee, couldn't convince her.
Ileana take legal action against the producer of Aankhen 2
Launch of 'Aankhen 2' took place in Mumbai on Thursday amid great fanfare. Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Arjun Rampal, Regina Cassandra and Arshad Warsi who play key roles were present for the launch. This biggie is being helmed by Anees Bazmee. Producer Gaurang Doshi announced that Ileana, who was absent for the event, too signed 'Aankhen 2'. In fact, The Goan Beauty turned down the project when she was offered to her. Still, Producer annoyed Ileana by declaring that she is part of the project. Actually, Ileana came to know about the announcement only after close pals began congratulating her for signing 'Aankhen 2'. After Akshay Kumar, John Abraham leaves 'Aankhen 2'
While speculations were rife that John Abraham will be playing the lead in 'Aankhen 2', according to new reports, the actor has opted out of the film. John was supposed to play a blind man in the sequel, which is being helmed by director Anees Bazmee. They had earlier worked together on 'Welcome Returns'. It seems the actor had to let go of the film, because of date issues. After his injury on the sets of 'Force 2', he took a few weeks off to recuperate, which caused his schedule to go haywire. Reports also suggest that the 'Rocky Handsome' actor hiked his price to ₹12 crores, which the makers of 'Aankhen 2' couldn't afford. While the hunt is to find an actor who can replace John, Amitabh Bachchan will retain his role as the antagonist in this sequel. Earlier, it was rumoured that Akshay Kumar and Arjun Rampal, who were a part of the first installment 'Aankhen', had dropped out of 'Aankhen 2'. The original film, which is based on the Gujarati play 'Andhalo Pato', also featured Paresh Rawal and Sushmita Sen.
