PPC has tied up with Anushvi productions for 'DASHAVATAR' a mythological tale about the divine incarnations of Lord Vishnu in an animated format. The company believes that it is very essential for the present generation to understand mythology. Thus, giving it to them in an enjoyable animated package would be the best approach. Shailendra Singh, MD PPC says of the company's latest acquisition 'Our country's mythology has such strong elements of story telling that it's unbelievable that most of us are still in the dark about it. It's imperative that this generation's children are educated about it as mythology is the integral part of our culture. We made Hanuman for this very reason and now comes Dashavatar.' He adds 'It's a film which can be watched together with the entire family and also imbibes the values and mythology of India. All of us have grown up hearing stories of our mythology and its one topic which would be the fancy of all genres! Indian Mythology is one of the richest elements of Indian Culture, which enriches it further and makes it a unique one in the world. Different stories in Indian mythology have been passed from generation to generation either by word of mouth or through carefully stored scriptures.' Mr. Vimal Shah, Director, Anushvi Productions, says, 'Indian Mythology is a great asset to our culture. Our morals and values are greatly based on Historical events and Legends. The Vishnu Puran is one of our oldest mythological text which narrates the various incarnations of Lord Vishnu such as Lord Rama, Lord Krishna and Lord Buddha. Therefore, giving us the very basis of the legends like Ramayana, Mahabharata, Buddhism and The Holy book - The Bhagawat Geeta." "Singing was a sincere effort" - John Abraham
T Series and PPC's Aashayein, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor unveiled yet another facet of actor John Abraham -- that of a singer. A musical evening for the film saw John performing to the number Ab Hai Ujala alongside Shankar Mahadevan, Zubin, Shafaquat Ali, Salim-Suleiman among others at the amphitheatre, Bandra Fort. While John admits to a "sincere effort", music director Salim avers that "John will be appreciated in the inspirational number.' Producer Bhushan Kumar feels, "This film is an inspirational movie by Nagesh and will bring to light the true spirit. Also John was the perfect choice, as he is a youth icon who has given his career-best performance in Aashayein."
Big B & King Khan: Coming together
The releases for 2008 have already started with the movies getting released right from the setting in of this year. We have even had one of the biggest releases of all times, 'Jodhaa Akbar' from Asutosh Gowarikar, which is getting positive reviews from all corners. The good news for all Bollywood fans is that they can continue to see and appreciate more of their favorite stars in the months to come. More films are being looked forward to in the months from May July. 'Bhoothnath' releasing on May 9 will be starring Big B and SRK in significant roles. This film is basically a children's film. Big B will be seen in an elegant suit and coolers playing a 'bhooth' and always accompanied by a kid. There is yet another film that will hit theatres on the same day as 'Boothnath' and that is 'Aashayein' starring John Abraham. Reports suggest that 'Aashayein' is about the protagonist's journey through life. Apart from the same release date, these two films do not have anything else in common. We had also reported last week that we can get a major share of Salman Khan films too around the same time. Let's hope that we get to see movies belonging to different genres that take Bollywood to newer heights!
The Ghai-Nagesh rift
Around two years back Subash Ghai launched Mukta Searchlight by assigning directorial reigns to director Nagesh Kukunoor and one must admit Nagesh did a good job. Nagesh made a film that inspired many to believe and thus launched the much talented Shreyas Talpade with 'Iqbal'. Since then Ghai has been raving about Nagesh and has signed him up for over 3 more films which includes Bombay to Bangkok, Aashayein with John Abraham and another untitled venture. The grapevine now is that Ghai might reconsider assigning Nagesh any further projects. It seems that Ghai is so upset with Nagesh for creating such a mess out of Bombay to Bangkok that he refused to see the film and even shunned the premiere. Looks like Nagesh will have to do much better with his further projects so as to impress the showman Ghai.
Dhoni watches John go intense
Mahendra Singh Dhoni and John Abraham share more than their hairstyles and hairstylist. John has expressed earlier stating, "Dhoni is my favourite cricketer". We are not sure if Johnny boy is Dhoni's favourite actor but the T20 captain dropped in on the sets of Nagesh Kukunoor's 'Aashayein' which stars John in the lead. The film produced by Percept Picture Company was being shot at DN Nagar, Andheri. Dhoni dropped in to meet John and stayed to watch the shooting. They discussed everything from films to crickets to bikes on the set. The atmosphere became really lively after Dhoni arrived. He even stayed back and watched John do some intense scenes.
Nagesh Shreyas team up for their next
Nagesh Kukunoor took the audience by an in swing in his last film Iqbal. People may feel that things have become easy for the director. Here comes the googly. He is very disappointed with his experience with Mukta Arts. Hence he has decided not to be with them for his next venture. He is now making his next film tentatively titled Aashayein with Sahara Motion Pictures. The film can loosely be called an emotional story of human beings. Nagesh decided to go this extreme as he found himself sidelined under Subhash Ghai who was busy with the other films of the production house Apna Sapna Money Money, Shaadi Se Pehle, and so on. Nagesh expected their next film to start as soon as Iqbal released. But that did not happen instead he felt that his project was not being attended to. So he decided to ask for sahara from Sahara Motion Pictures. Nagesh may have changed the production house but not the lead. He has once again cast Shreyas Talpade his lead in Iqbal for this venture too. He has kept the promise he made to Shreyas. The film this time is a woman centric. It revolves around the lives of two friends and their wives. Vidya Balan was approached to play the lead but that could not work out due to the actress' date problems.
