More news →Said no to 'Aashiqui' for love: Pooja Bhatt
Actress-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt says she refused to be a part of her father filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s romantic musical drama “Aashiqui” because of love. The 43-year-old, who made her debut with the 1989 film “Daddy”, on Thursday said her uncle Mukesh Bhatt offered her a role in the highly acclaimed film, but she declined because her boyfriend did not want her to be an actress. “I had a boyfriend and I was in love with him since I was 12-year-old. When I was 16, I started dating him. At 17 I did ‘Daddy’ and at 18 I was offered ‘Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin. "So he very patiently went through the phase of my first film and said ‘If you want to marry me, drop movie offers as I’ll never marry an actor’,” Pooja said at an event here when asked why she refused her uncle’s offer. Pooja shared insights about her life during a session on the second day of Jagran Film Festival here. The five-day gala was being held in Siri Fort Auditorium. “Being a romantic person, I said I’ll do anything for love. Then Mukeshji (Mukesh Bhatt) came to my house with signing amount for the role, but I refused the offer. He called my father and asked him to make me understand. But I never agreed to do it. "And then my relationship ended with that person, though he still is a very dear friend of mine. But then life took over. So now I think I should have done the film,” she added. Produced by Mukesh Bhatt, “Aashiqui”, which starred Rahul Roy, Anu Aggarwal and Deepak Tiori, was both critically as well as commercially successful particularly because of its music. A sequel to the 1990 film, titled “Aashiqui 2”, with a completely new theme, directed by Mohit Suri with Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead, was released in 2013. Meanwhile, Pooja, who starred in films like “Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin”, “Sadak”, “Sir” and “Zakhm”, was judging the sixth edition of the film fest along with music sensation Udit Narayan, ad-director and cinematographer Mahesh Aney, Malayalam cinema icon Hariharan and renowned film editor A. Sreekar Prasad.
Sidharth Malhotra - Alia Bhatt to star in Aashiqui 3?
After the smash hit Aashiqui 2 that released in 2013 featuring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, we now hear that the makers of the film are keen on featuring none other than Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt in the third instalment of the film. Talking about the speculation of Sidharth and Alia featuring in the film Mukesh Bhatt, the film's co-producer says, "It is wrong to say that we have signed on Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt for Aashiqui 3, when in fact we are still in talks with them to feature in the film." When further prodded about the film Bhatt adds, "As for the film itself, the script is almost ready and once the principal actors are locked will we decide about the rest of the cast, post which we will start filming." Though Bhatt remained tight lipped about the film, Sidharth Malhotra has indirectly confirmed doing the film stating that scripting for the film is in progress but it should be up and running next year and that he is looking forward to the film.
'Do Lafzon Ki Kahani' made Deepak Tijori remember 'Aashiqui'
Actor-director Deepak Tijori, who is returning to direction after a long time with the Randeep Hooda- Kajal Aggarwal starrer "Do Lafzon Ki Kahani", said shooting for the film, made him recollect all fond memories of Mahesh Bhatt's evergreen romantic drama "Aashiqui", where he had played an important character. "I'm doing a romantic film for the first time after a long time even as a director. And obviously, I remember Bhatt sahab regularly and even the moments of 'Aashiqui' were coming to my mind while we were shooting the scenes. And this definitely helps. And you'll see a lot of images of Bhatt sahab in the film," he told journalists. The cast of Randeep and Kajal is fresh yet looking compatible in the first look of the film. Tijori said: "The film is basically a brooding love story and that was the reason we had to meticulously cast the actors for the film. The music of such a film also plays an important role. And I'm sure what we've achieved is remarkable and we're all excited and happy with what we've achieved in the film." Kajal and music composer Ankit Tiwari were also present at the interaction. "Aashiqui" was the turning point in Deepak Tijori's career after struggling for several years to get a break in the industry. Though he was not the lead actor, his role as lead actor Rahul Roy's friend was appreciated and made a huge difference to his career.
Akshaye, Shahid, Kareena, Upen sizzle 'Aashique'
Talking about Himesh Reshammiya, his 'Aashique' seems to be going a long way! Though by no ways is '36 China Town' a love story, this brilliantly composed rhythmic love'n'dance track, 'Aashique Ye Meri', is turning out to be a real chartbuster before the film's release. If the original and remix version of this superhit number were not enough, there is yet another music video out that is set in the same mode as the one on the air. So what's special? This time the track also features Akshaye Khanna. In addition, there are Chinese dancers in the background who are traditionally attired and gyrate to authentic dance steps. No wonder the song looks Exxxtra cool with the presence of cool as cucumber Akshaye. From Shahid, Kareena and Upen to an additional presence of Akshaye - it's indeed the case of 'teen se bhale chaar'!
