Advani praises PM, says Modi has scored 'Triple Century'

Senior BJP leader L K Advani on Sunday likened Prime Minister Narendra Modi to a batsman who becomes Captain in the very first Test match he plays and scores a triple century. Advani used the cricket analogy to praise Modi for leading the party and the national alliance it leads to a thumping victory in the recent general elections. The alliance, NDA, has won 336 seats in the Lok Sabha, of which the BJP accounts for a record 282 seats. "In test cricket we have heard of players who score a century or a double century on their debut. But I do not know of any batsman who becomes a captain in the very first Test he plays and scores a triple century! This is Narendrabhai's unique achievement," the veteran leader said. Advani was delivering the valedictory address on the second and final day of an orientation workshop for first time BJP members of Parliament in Surajkund on the outskirts of the capital. Modi, 63, too is a first time Lok Sabha MP. When the party named him its candidate for Prime Minister before Assembly elections to key states last year, Advani, 86, had gone public with his disapproval of the move.

Nikhil Advani's 'D-Day' censored, gets U/A certificate

Nikhil Advani's "D Day", a film on cross-border terrorism, was passed by the Central Board Of Film Certification with a few dialogue cuts and an 'UA' certificate. Surprisingly, no cuts were ordered in verbal content regarding Pakistan, but Shruti Haasan's dialogues have been cut short. In the film, a bunch of RAW agents is assigned to bring a terrorist back to India from Pakistan. "I expected some objection to what could be considered inflammatory dialogues about Pakistan. But the censor board has not touched a single word pertaining to Pakistan," said Advani. What has gone are a few dialogues by Shruti, who plays a Pakistani prostitute. "These are lines where she does hardcore business bargaining with her clients. I was advised to get rid of these dialogues to obtain a 'UA' certificate. I happily took them off. My apprehensions were not about what Shruti's character has to say, but about the far more important dialogues on cross-border terrorism. I am happy to say the censor board didn't touch any of those," said Advani. The film also starring Rishi Kapoor, Irrfan, Arjun Rampal, and Huma Qureshi is coming out July 19.

Nikhil Advani's experiment on 'Katti Batti' set

Director Nikhil Advani chose to shoot with the cast of "Katti Batti" for the film's climax in a different manner. He did not give the script of the last 25 minutes of the film! Talking about his decision, Advani said: "I needed to capture real and natural reactions of the cast in this particular portion. I figured the best way of doing this would be not giving any script or dialogue and not to prepare the actors for this scene. This was only done to bring out the originality of the scene." A source said that after learning this, the cast was at first taken aback, but they went ahead with Advani’s advice. The idea is said to have turned out to be fruitful as Advani got the desired result. "Katti Batti", releasing on September 18, stars Imran Khan and Kangana Ranaut in a story about live-in relationships.

Can BJP do without Advani?

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) patriarch LK Advani appears to have made his peace with the fact that Narendra Modi will be Prime Minister of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) if it comes to power. It is another matter that smart ally management will be needed, judging by opinion polls which suggest that forget 200 seats, the BJP is unlikely to cross 175. If 162 (as the most recent poll suggests) is the best complexion the BJP can put to its electoral prospects,we need to ask two questions: why? And how the BJP is going to make up the rest of the numbers. The fact is what Advani had said earlier, before his party got caught in the grips of Modi hysteria, needs revisiting. Privately, he had told friends: It is not Modi I am opposing; it is what Modi is associated with. There is a wave of revulsion against the Congress sweeping the country: against cronyism, against corruption. It is that wave that has to be turned into a political tide. That way we can take along with us, all those forces which are opposed to the Congress. If you project Modi (as PM) all discussion will stop at 2002 and Godhra: whether it was good or bad, should it have happened, etc. So in the BJP, there is a sense that while Modi brings a lot to the table – his public speaking, his charisma with young people, his record of governance – he also takes away a lot. Consider the opinion polls: Lalu Prasad's Rashtriya Janata Dal is seen as getting 14 seats in Bihar. This would have never happened if the BJP and the Janata Dal United had been together, presenting a common front against memories of Lalu Prasad-Rabri Devi's misrule. They split on the issue of Modi becoming Prime Minister. Similarly, Maulana Madni's warning to the Congress – don't frighten us, don't take Muslims for granted – is a cry of desperation to be understood, not an endorsement of Modi. There is no one on the political horizon as sharp as LK Advani when it comes to understanding complexities of Indian politics. You need to have had the experience of managing fractious coalition partners, your own hindutva-wallahs and the ability to do the impossible – make deals where everyone thinks they've won. We saw that when he was leading the rath yatras, when he was Home minister and as Convenor of NDA, when George Fernandes became too ill to handle it. Advani can do without the BJP; but make no mistake, the BJP will find it very difficult to do without Advani.

Sameer signs 5 film contract with Nikhil Advani

After writing lyrics for more than 6000 songs for more than 564 Hindi films, 22 Bhojpuri films, 32 private albums, having more than 25 years of experience in the film industry, achieving three Filmfare awards for best lyrics, nominated for 9 Filmfare, 3 IIFA, 1 Zee Cine, and 1 screen awards, Sameer is all set to write history again. Director-Producer Nikhil Advani has signed Sameer for his 5 upcoming movies. It is happening for the first time in Bollywood's history that a lyricist is been signed by any director for writing lyrics for his upcoming movies on this scale. It is because of Sameer's proficiency and hard work that he is one of the most prolific Bollywood lyricists. Sameer's versatility and imagination has dropped five upcoming movies of Nikhil Advani in his pocket. Nikhil Advani, a well known director of movies like Kal Ho Na Ho and Saalam-e-Ishq has done wonders on silver screen and now after signing Sameer for his five films, some more wonders are also expected. Sameer is pleased with his latest achievement as he wants to write more melodious songs which are meaningful along with making people happy. He has the ability of expressing most precious emotions in words. On the other hand, Nikhil is also very happy that Sameer will write songs for his films. Sameer has worked with the maximum number of music directors and whatever his critics said; he proved his excellence in work. He has done a maximum number of films i.e. 146 with the music director duo of Anand Milind, writing for approx 899 songs for them. Although Sameer wrote his first song 'Gori pareshaan hai kali pareshaan hai'' for the movie 'Bekhabar', it was with Dil that Sameer became the hottest new lyricist on the block. The turning point of his career was Ashiqui for which Sameer occupied centre stage. His melodious words in Ashiqui created the biggest impact on the hearts of listeners. After that, Sameer firmly established himself as the first choice of music directors. Nowadays he is working with the top notch composers and directors. His latest ventures are Race and Mere Baap Pehle Aap in which he has proved his brilliance. 'Pehli Nazar Main' song from the movie Race has registered the top position for a long time for him and now his new song 'Ishq Subhaan Allah' from the movie Mere Baap Pehle Aap is a dance track which has made everyone hit the dance floor. Sameer has taken the music of Hindi motion pictures to a level ahead. Sameer has been honored for three Filmfare awards for his movies- Aashiqui, Deewana and Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke and for the movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, he has won Zee Cine Award also. Sameer had to go through his share of toil and hardship to achieve this position. His father was also a well known lyricist whose name helped him to get an audition with music directors but beyond this it nearly proved to be his under doing. Sameer says, 'I have learned from my father that nothing succeeds like success in the film industry and once the ball is set in motion, there is no stopping for it.' After the recent triumph in his professional life, Sameer seems to have reached an elevation in his career. A lyricist, who says that pain has to be first felt to be able to express it, says that now is the most creative time, and is doing fewer but quality oriented movies including this new venture with Director Nikhil Advani.
