Gowtham's much-awaited Varanam Aayiram began on Monday. After Khaakha Khaakha, Suriya and Gowtham come together again for Varanam Aayiram. The movie would be shot extensively in Afghanistan. A photo session with Suriya wearing traditional costumes of an Afghanistan was done recently. Gowtham teams up with cinematographer Rathnavelu for the first time. Harris Jayaraj scores the music while Thamarai pens the lyrics. Kuthu Ramya and Daniel Balaji are in the cast.
Varanam Aayiram team in US!
Surya's 'Varanam Aayiram', directed by Goutham Menon, will be shot in the US. The cast and crew of the movie will soon leave for San Francisco on a 25-day trip to shoot the movie. Goutham is planning to shoot important sequences at the famous Brooklyn University. Samira Reddy and Divya are the heroines in the movie. A grand set is to be erected at a studio in US where song sequences would be shot. Goutham Menon has roped in leading American technicians to work in the movie. Meanwhile, Surya's 'Vel' will be released this Deepavali. Directed by Hari, the movie features Asin opposite him.
'Varanam Aayiram' reels go missing
Tension prevailed in the sets of Surya starrer 'Varanam Aayiram' unit in USA after a few reels of the movie shot in America reportedly went missing. According to reports, director Goutham Menon has shot some scenes of the movie in USA featuring Surya and Sameera Reddy. He reportedly sent those reels to Chennai through his production managers to Chennai to be handed over to post-production managers. To the surprise of Goutham Menon, the cans containing the reels were fund missing when they reached Chennai airport. Following a complaint, the reels were traced. It is reported that they were left behind at Singapore, where the production managers took a connection flight to Chennai on their way to Chennai from USA.
Varanam Aayiram: Burden of the Budget
'Varanam Aayiram', Suriya, Sameera Reddy and Divya starrer, faces an unexpected trouble even as 80 per cent of the shooting is said to be completed. Producer Oscar Ravichandiran has filled a complaint against director Gautham Menon for exceeding the budget. According to the producer, the initial budget was fixed as Rs. 10.5 crores on first copy basis. Later, the producer claims, Gautham demanded an additional 3.5 crores to complete the movie. Annoyed by the increased budget, the producer has lodged a complaint in Producers' Council against the director. He has said that the increase is unbearable. However, the sources close to the unit say that the problem would be amicably sorted out soon and the shooting would resume without much delay. The problem in obtaining shooting permission in various places led to the increase in the cost, inform the sources. The next schedule of the shooting will be held in Delhi, Varanasi and Malaysia. If everything goes well, the movie will hit the halls by the summer season.
Varanam Aayiram from 15 August
Suriya - Gowtham Menon's much-awaited 'Varanam Aayiram' is expected to hit the screens from 15 August. Features Sameera Reddy, Divya and Simran in key roles, the movie has been in the limelight ever since it went to floors. Suriya dons a dual role and what more he appears as a school student and has managed to get six pack abs after rigorous workout for the movie. Harris Jayaraj's music is a major talking point of the film. He has composed half-a-dozen songs for the film. A major portion of the movie was shot in Brooklyn University. After tasting success in 'Khaakha Khaakha', both Suriya and Gowtham are confident of repeating the success in 'Varanam Aayiram'.
Varanam Aayiram audio from 15 June
Harris Jayaraj and Gautham menon have always delivered their best. From 'Minnale' till 'Pachai Killi Muthusaram', the two have always come together render chartbusters. The latest addition to their long list is 'Varanam Aayiram'. The much-awaited audio of the movie would be launched on 15 June in Chennai. The movie features Suriya, Simran, Sameera Reddy and Divya in the lead roles. Harris, Gautham and Suirya have earlier rendered a smashing hit in 'Khaakha Khaakha'.
