Success of 'Being Cyrus' has proved to be a blessing for young 'n' upcoming directors who believe in coming up with something different that fits in well in the category of New Age Cinema. Sanjay Khanduri is one such young filmmaker who would be quite hopeful about the prospects of his soon to be released '1:40 Ki Last Local'. A film revolving around two strangers, played by Abhay Deol and Neha Dhupia, '1:40 Ki Last Local' is a comic thriller shot in Mumbai and deals with the last 1:40 AM local train. A Quartet Film production [which last came up with 'Let's Enjoy'], '1:40 Ki Last Local' is a story that begins and end in the course of one night.
Abhay Deol's second release gets closer, 'Ahista Ahista'
Abhay Deol's 'Socha Na Tha' may not have done wonders at the box office but the film still had something to cheer about it's lead pair of Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia was noticed and their performances were acclaimed. While Ayesha Takia went on to bag some awards for a best female debut and also some more films, Abhay Deol had a lull period for some time. But now he is slowly inching towards his second release, 'Ahista Ahista', that stars him opposite Soha Ali Khan. Shayan Munshi plays the third part of this love triangle. The film is produced by Anjum Rizvi, who had come up with Jimmy Shergill/Uday Chopra starrer 'Charas' a couple of years back. Shivram Nair, who has worked for TV serials like Sea Hawks and Ankahee is the film's director. 'Ahista Ahista' is slated for a July release.
Abhay and Soha in Love?
Soha Ali Khan and Abhay Deol seem to have 'Ahista Ahista' fallen in love with each other on the sets of their first film together. Well, if a News Channel is to be believed then that's exactly the story like. The pretty young news reporter went as far as matching the illustrious family tree of the girl and the boy. Like, Abhay is the nephew of Dharmendra and has cousins like Sunny, Bobby, Esha and Aahana, while Soha's mom Sharmila Tagore, father Navab Pataudi, the great cricketer and superstar brother Saif Ali Khan complete the family portrait. It's weird-but-true, television news channels these days are willing to go to any length to manufacture stories where maybe none exists. Talking about 'Ahista Ahista' then its music is already a super-hit. Himesh Reshamiya has given his best music score till date. Title track 'Ahista Ahista', 'Allah Kare', 'Tere Ishq Mein', 'Awan Akhiyan' and 'Tum Jo Mile' are chartbusters. And more importantly there's a lot of variety in terms of musical tastes. From the promos one can make out that Abhay and Soha share a sparkling chemistry. It is touted to be a remake of Hrishikesh Mukherjee's classic comedy 'Chupke Chupke' that starred Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan. Let's see if director Shivam Nair manages to revive the Hrishikesh Mukherjee brand of cult family cinema.
Abhay-Soha's Midnight Rendezvous
Soha Ali Khan and Abhay Deol made a cute pair in 'Ahista Ahista' which in spite of being a good film couldn't ignite fireworks at the Box Office. There were reports about their linkup but both sides kept on denying it. But what was Soha doing at the on location song shooting of Abhay's film 'Ek Chalees Ki Local' at Kamalistan Studio much beyond midnight. And no, she isn't part of the film. With a sizzler like Neha Dhupia being Abhay's co-star, maybe Soha didn't want to take any chances. Right! Apart from this juicy piece of news one must admit that shooting a film is not a joke. It was a song sequence 'Kismat Ka Khel' where Abhay Deol was grooving to a fantastic laidback number with delicious babes surrounding him tip-toeing with a coy smile. Choreographer Ganesh Acharya was calling the shots. First few lines of the song itself took a hell lot of time in getting rehearsed'.Canning it was a much more tedious task in itself. So, all you guys who think filmmaking is a joyride, you must get an opportunity to see the amount of hard work a crew puts in to get the desired effect. 'Ek Chalees Ki Last Local' is about Nilesh (Abhay) who makes big money in the span of 1.40 a.m. to 4.10 a.m. in one night. And the timing is symbolic of Mumbai fast local trains'The lifeline of the city without which the city just can't function. It seems to be a promising subject. It all depends upon the treatment. Wonder where Abhay and Soha headed for'.Once the shoot was over'.The railway station? Hah!

Abhay is a natural actor: Kalki Koechlin
Dev D” fame actress Kalki Koechlin, who is sharing screen space with Abhay Deol again in “Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara”, feels her co-star is quite natural in front of the camera. “It was nice working with Abhay again. We are used to working with each other so now we know what each other does best so we help each other out. He is a very natural actor and that’s the best thing about him,” Kalki said. The 27-year-old Indian actress of French descent starred opposite Abhay in director Anurag Kashyap’s critically acclaimed 2009 Hindi film “Dev D”, a modern take on Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s Bengali novel “Devdas”. While Kalki played Chandramukhi, Abhay featured as Devdas. In director Zoya Akhtar’s “Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara”, Kalki worked with a female director for the first time and says it turned out to be great fun. “It was superb working with Zoya Akhtar. It’s so much fun because she is so down to earth and also listens to girls,” quipped the actress, who was here with beau Kashyap for the launch of the talent portal Tumbhi. When asked what role is she playing in Tumbhi, Kalki said: “Absolutely nothing. I’m just a loyal girlfriend. I showed up because Anurag asked me to. It’s a good concept. “At the end of the day everything in this industry happens through connections so talented people who are new to the city have to find someone who has some connection with the film industry.” She feels the portal will work as a bridge between wannabes and the film industry. “It’s so hard for someone new to survive in this industry. When I was new here, it was so hard. I was clueless. I didn’t know what was going on. I used to sit at Prithvi Theatre every day finding out things and there was no set way of doing it. “This portal just makes it easier. For any artist it is useful. It is economical, you can just upload stuff from your home. It is very practical,” said Kalki.
