More news →Action Khiladi against eight wrestlers
In 'Singh Is Kinng' Akshay Kumar may be enacting the role of a village simpleton who ends up in a foreign country amid strange people and unfamiliar circumstances. But when it is the action king of Bollywood doing the role of the leading man, can some high voltage action be left out? To add some breathtaking action sequences and to provide the sardar with tough opposition to prove his Punjabi strength, the Khiladi will be seen confronting eight professional wrestlers. The eight WWE wrestlers have been selected from Austalia and will be seen in an action sequence. During the shooting, all the eight muscle men gelled well with Akshay. Between the shots the film star and the fighters talked a lot as some of them had seen Akshay's films. A wrestler named Chris even shared some arm wrestling secrets with the Khiladi.
Action Jackson to release April 11 next year
Prabhudheva's "Action Jackson", which has Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha as the lead pair, will hit screens April 11 next year. The film is currently being shot and the director is canning the third schedule which has a song sequence. A sprawling and lavish set has been constructed at a suburban studio here for the sequence, said a statement. Produced by Gordhan Tanwani, the film also stars Yami Gautam and Kunaal Roy Kapur. There are plans to add another actress to the cast as well. The film will be presented by Baba Films and its music has been composed by Himesh Reshammiya.
Action not glamourised in 'NH10': Director
Director Navdeep Singh says the action element in his movie "NH10" is marked by how real it is. The film stars Anushka Sharma and Neil Bhoopalam. "Anushka and Neil did workshops together and I must say their chemistry looks great in the film. As far as action is concerned, it is not glamourised in this film. It's very realistic action and Anushka took training for that," Singh told. A thriller, "NH10" is co-produced by Phantom Productions, Eros International and Clean Slate Films. This is Anushka's debut production venture. While it has been said that "NH10" is a dark film, Singh says it's because "reality in small towns is dark". "Our reality itself is dark, but I would like to say the reality in small towns is so dark that it gets difficult to capture it on the small screen. And as far as the message in the film is concerned, I feel every film has its own message in it -- and that is for the audience to see," he added.
No action against Mallika
The Chennai police have decided not to take any legal action against Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat. This consensus was reached due to the consultations that the police had with the lawyers who made it clear that 'how to dress' being a personal matter, no legal provision exists for moral policing. Mallika Sherawat was in the news again following a complaint from Hindu Makkal Katchy leader Kaniraj, who alleged that she wore revealing dress in the 'Dasavatharam' audio release function. The complaint alleged that her dress code was not only obscene but also not suited the Tamil culture. She was in the stage along with the Tamil Nadu Chief minister M Karunanidhi, action hero Jackie Chan, Amitabh Bachchan , Mammootty and Kamal Haasan. Last month a similar complaint was made against actress Shreya Sharan when she attended the success celebration of 'Sivaji'. But Shreya was quick enough to tender an apology to escape scat free.
Expensive action sequences to be shot for ‘Agent Vinod’
Producer Saif Ali Khan has asked his “Agent Vinod” director Sriram Raghavan to shoot three very expensive action sequences. “I will have only three action sequences. But I won’t compromise on quality. I’ve spent considerable time writing the action sequences into the script. Now comes their execution,” Sriram said. The next schedule of “Agent Vinod” is in March 2011. “There are three big action sequences still to be shot. They require major prepping.I want to plan them out and shoot them on priority. There was no point going into another schedule without the required budget. We now have that in place for March. These sequences are VFX heavy and it’s better to do them first before I do my balance scenes. We’ve shot about an hour of footage already,” he added. Sriram still hopes to release the film towards the end of next year. “Both Saif and Kareena would have to be trained before we do the remaining action sequences,” Sriram said. Making an action film as slick as its counterparts in Hollywood is not easy. Two of the pending action sequences would be shot in the UAE, far away from the country where they are located in the script, to economize on the rapidly spiraling budget. Sriram admits he has been asked to keep costs down. “I need to keep a quality check while making sure we don’t go over-budget. There are three big action sequences to be shot. And yes, you’ve heard right. Two of them might be shot in the same location. For one of them I need choppers flying in the night. In India we aren’t allowed choppers at night. So we’ll have to shoot in the UAE.” Sriram, who has already edited 65 minutes of footage for “Agent Vinod”, needs to shoot a very stylish prologue to go with the opening titles, and an epilogue which requires four days of shooting in Britain. Would the prologue be as as stylish as the ones in the James Bond flicks? Laughs Sriram: “I wish! But we don’t have that kind of budget.” Kareena Kapoor has been telling the world that she has no heavyduty action sequences to perform with Saif in “Agent Vinod”. The fact is, she has not one, but two very stylish and complex action sequences in “Agent Vinod”. For this she needs to undergo some amount of training. Apparently these sequences have been postponed until she finds the time to train, and until the budget permits them to be shot. If preparedness is all, then “Agent Vinod” is not all there. Not yet.
