Small screen beckons Agathiyan

Agathiyan belongs to the rare breed of directors in Tamil cinema. When action-packed flicks were the order of the day, he came out with movies which had engrossing scripts, with subtle emotions. The only recipient of the National Award for best director from Tamil so far, Agathiyan's Kadhal Kottai set a new trend in Tamil cinema. He followed it up with a poignant film, Gokulathil Seethai. Currently he is penning the dialogues for the Tamil version of Bharathiraja's Hindi movie 'Cinema' which stars Nana Patekar in the lead role. The Tamil version is titled Bommalaattam. Meanwhile, Agathiyan has forayed into the small screen. He has accepted to do a mega-serial for a newly-launched television channel. He says the serial would be different from the regular ones and would have a strong message. Agathiyan's mega-serial, to be telecast on weekdays, will be aired from the New Year.
