Producer Saif Ali Khan has asked his “Agent Vinod” director Sriram Raghavan to shoot three very expensive action sequences. “I will have only three action sequences. But I won’t compromise on quality. I’ve spent considerable time writing the action sequences into the script. Now comes their execution,” Sriram said. The next schedule of “Agent Vinod” is in March 2011. “There are three big action sequences still to be shot. They require major prepping.I want to plan them out and shoot them on priority. There was no point going into another schedule without the required budget. We now have that in place for March. These sequences are VFX heavy and it’s better to do them first before I do my balance scenes. We’ve shot about an hour of footage already,” he added. Sriram still hopes to release the film towards the end of next year. “Both Saif and Kareena would have to be trained before we do the remaining action sequences,” Sriram said. Making an action film as slick as its counterparts in Hollywood is not easy. Two of the pending action sequences would be shot in the UAE, far away from the country where they are located in the script, to economize on the rapidly spiraling budget. Sriram admits he has been asked to keep costs down. “I need to keep a quality check while making sure we don’t go over-budget. There are three big action sequences to be shot. And yes, you’ve heard right. Two of them might be shot in the same location. For one of them I need choppers flying in the night. In India we aren’t allowed choppers at night. So we’ll have to shoot in the UAE.” Sriram, who has already edited 65 minutes of footage for “Agent Vinod”, needs to shoot a very stylish prologue to go with the opening titles, and an epilogue which requires four days of shooting in Britain. Would the prologue be as as stylish as the ones in the James Bond flicks? Laughs Sriram: “I wish! But we don’t have that kind of budget.” Kareena Kapoor has been telling the world that she has no heavyduty action sequences to perform with Saif in “Agent Vinod”. The fact is, she has not one, but two very stylish and complex action sequences in “Agent Vinod”. For this she needs to undergo some amount of training. Apparently these sequences have been postponed until she finds the time to train, and until the budget permits them to be shot. If preparedness is all, then “Agent Vinod” is not all there. Not yet.
Pakistan ban won’t affect ‘Agent Vinod’ revenues – Saif Ali Khan
Saif Ali Khan isn’t perturbed over Pakistan banning “Agent Vinod”, saying that very little revenue would be lost by the restriction imposed on his home production, which is releasing Friday. “We have lost some revenue, just around Rs.1 crore. They are always banning our movies. ‘Kurbaan’ was also banned,” Saif told IANS adding that “We also shot in Pakistan without their permission.” ” ‘Agent Vinod’ is for Indians but it is not against Pakistanis,” said Saif and added with a smile: “But I understand if they get upset because we are beating them up quite often in the film.” Directed by Sriram Raghavan, “Agent Vinod” has Saif in the title role and Kareena Kapoor as the female lead. Talking about characterization of Pakistanis in “Agent Vinod”, he said: “We have shown the Pakistani Army involved with the Taliban and Afghanistan. We have shown them assassinating their own ISI chief. We have shown them encouraging terrorist activities in India and financing the LET. If you feel this is unreasonable or not true, then it is fair enough.” “I think it is all quite true. May be they didn’t like that but they do know,” he added. Once a prolific moviemaking country, Pakistan had 1,300 cinema halls in the 1970s with an average annual production of around 300 movies. But by 2005, the country had only 270 cinema halls and made about 18 movies a year. The rest of the movie halls have been converted into gas stations, shopping malls or car showrooms. In 2010, just eight Pakistani movies were produced. Movie buffs in Pakistan had a hearty appetite for Bollywood movies, but they had to watch pirated copies of Hindi films as the release of Indian films had been banned in Pakistan. In 2008, the Pakistan government lifted the ban on Indian films and that has given a much-needed boost to the cinema business.
Shilpa Shetty sues Agent Jazz
Shilpa Shetty has filed a court case against the UK-based Jasveer 'Jazz' Barton, who had falsely claimed to be her 'Agent', made commitments and even signed a deal on her behalf, while the actress was participating in the UK reality show 'Big Brother'. "We have put up a case at the City Civil Court, Mumbai, asking for an injunction against Jazz Barton's untrue claims and demands," informed Shilpa's spokesperson and publicist Dale Bhagwagar. "Now that Shilpa is world famous, Jazz has been trying to extract money from her. She has been sending her legal notices, seeking a cut from Shilpa's earnings," said Bhagwagar, and added, "Jazz's demands are ridiculous, as Shilpa does not have any contract or agreement with her in the first place. By going to court, Shilpa is just protecting herself from Jazz's illegal claims." Jazz's misendeavours: It can be recalled that Jazz Barton (along with Bobby Khan) was instrumental in introducing Shilpa Shetty to Endemol; the casting-agency for 'Big Brother'. When the UK media started addressing Jazz as Shilpa's 'Agent' and Bobby Khan as 'Manager', while Shilpa was still in the 'Big Brother' house, the Shetty's sensed Jazz was upto mischief by misguiding the media. "Due to those incorrect media reports, business queries were being misdirected to Jazz. But when we learnt that Jazz had begun signing financial deals and making commitments on Shilpa's behalf, it had to be announced and clarified that she was not the official Agent," said Bhagwagar. Jazz took offence to this and began using derogatory language for Shilpa and her mother Sunanda Shetty in UK media. She also tried insinuate a racism angle saying, she "would be deeply unhappy if Sunanda appointed a white Briton to represent Shilpa in the UK and worldwide". "It was evident that much like the one in 'Big Brother', Jazz was trying to create another racist divide," says Bhagwagar. "In fact, she was behaving like Jade Goody Part 2". Defamation and illicit demands After slandering Shilpa in the western media, Jazz came down to Mumbai and gave derogatory statements against the actress and her mother Sunanda Shetty to the Indian media. On her visits to India, she was served two legal notices, after which, she hurriedly left the country. "Subsequently, there was an exchange of more legal notices with Jazz making illegal claims and monetary demands. Thus, Shilpa was left with no other alternative but to take legal action against Jazz Barton," said Bhagwagar.
Can't survive in Hollywood without agent: Irrfan
"Piku" actor Irrfan Khan is one of the few Hindi film actors who has been able to land roles in Hollywood. He says agents ease the process of survival in the West, but it doesn't mean that life gets transformed by merely having an agent. Irrfan, who will be seen in "Inferno", said here: “In Hollywood, you cannot survive without an agent. There is no system where you just pick up the phone and greet them (filmmakers)... No, you have to go through an agent. You have to be part of the system, otherwise you cannot function.” He stressed that "there is a misconception that if you get an agent, your whole life will be transformed. "It is completely false. An agent cannot create work for you. He is just a mediator. If there is work, he brings it for you," added the actor. He said of his own agent: “I never said that he doesn’t get any work but still takes money. He takes money only when he gets work.” The "Slumdog Millionaire" actor, who has also featured in "Life of Pi", "The Amazing Spider-Man" and "Jurassic World", was present at the trailer launch of Meghna Gulzar's "Talvar".

Prashant Shah, line producer of Kambakth Ishq, based in Los Angeles said, "Yes its true we are signed the casting agents of Entourage as the casting agents for Hollywood stars for Kambakth Ishq. This move only goes to show that the Hindi film industry is increasingly getting globalized. Powerful producers like Sajid Nadiadwala now are confident that Hollywood stars are within their reach. Only Sajid can make this happen. He is the only producer in the industry with a clout equal to Yashraj." Adds Sajid Nadiadwala, "We have a certain vision for our production company NGE (Nadiadwala Grandsons Entertainment). Since Kambakth Ishq is based in Hollywood, it would make perfect sense to appoint partners, who would streamline the requirements as per the script. And we and our Line producer in Hollywood, have taken a call to appoint various agents for the various expertise they have to offer. As our Indian film industry is making its presence felt and going global, I would like my banner Nadiadwala Grandson to think on a bigger scale."
