Karan Johar’s “Agneepath” remake has received a thumbs up from Bollywood celebrities, who attended a special screening of the much-awaited movie here. The Monday night screening saw attendance from celebrities like Arbaaz Khan and Arjun Rampal and they are all impressed with the remake of the 1990 film. The Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt and Priyanka Chopra-starrer, directed by debutant Karan Malhotra, is set for release Thursday, and here’s what B-Town had to say about it: Arjun Rampal: It was mind blowing. It’s a superb film. Go and watch “Agneepath.” You guys are going to be blown away. Zayed Khan: All the performances are fabulous. Finally, superb kind of movies are back. It’s amazing. Hrithik, Sanjay, Priyanka, everybody was outstanding. Arbaaz Khan: I think the director has done a fantastic job and it’s a very good remake of the earlier “Agneepath”. Sanjay’s performance is fantastic, Hrithik is looking very good and he has acted very well as well. I think the star of the film is the director. I can’t direct ‘Agneepath’ remake: Karan Johar

Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar is scared to direct the remake of his father’s 1991 hit “Agneepath”, famous for portraying megastar Amitabh Bachchan as the “angry young man”. The 38-year-old says action isn’t quite his thing. “I am happy directing films on love, romance and drama. That’s what I do best. I don’t think I will be good at an action film. So I am not taking the reins of the film in my hand,” Karan said. He has roped in director Karan Malhotra to helm the movie. Currently, the team is working towards giving final touches to the script, after which they will approach the cast before finally launching the project.

Qasab attacks Agneepath

Even though he is under strict police observation every time when he walks out for a trial, dreaded terrorist Ajmal Amir Qasab is leaving his mark in the city of Mumbai. The shoot of Agneepath, remake of yesteryears classic was supposed to take place at the streets of sea side in Mumbai but was called of by the Mumbai Police. The reason being Mumbai police fearing that Hrithik who was supposed to shoot may cause law and order problem as there is every chance of him getting mobbed and add to it police thought there may be some negative repercussions of the verdict which may cause some law and order issues. So the shoot was cancelled yesterday. Unit sources reveal that everything was on board for shoot to happen but in the end they had to postpone it to today. Looks like Hrithik is going through some bad patch off late as who’ll forget that actor turned up on the first day of Agneepath’s shoot even though he was not required. But when required on his first day of the shoot circumstances didn’t proved lucky for the actor.

It’s Hrithik, not Abhishek in ‘Agneepath’ remake

It’s official. Karan Johar finally admits it is Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra in the “Agneepath” remake. Speaking officially for the first time about the casting of the “Agneepath” remake, Karan Johar coolly and cleverly passes on the buck to his novice director Siddharth Malhotra for Abhishek Bachchan’s non-presence in the remake…a casting digression that jolted everyone who thought Abhishek was a natural and inevitable inheritor of the “Agneepth” role. Says Karan: “When my father (late Yash Johar) produced ‘Agneepath’, he left everything to his director Mukul Anand and kept completely away from the project. I’m carrying on the family tradition.” “The casting for the ‘Agneepath’ remake was decided by the director Siddharth Malhotra. He decided on Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra. Why Hrithik and not Abhishek? I think Siddharth has his own ideas on how to present the character. I think the protagonist in the new ‘Agneepath’ would be very different from how he was in the original.” The script for the new “Agneepath” is also entirely revamped. Priyanka Chopra won’t play a nurse, like Madhavi had done in the original. And Mithun Chakraborty’s character from the original has been done away with completely. If there was any tension about the Bachchan scion Abhishek not even being approached for the remake of “Agneepath”, it was wiped away Wednesday and Thursday last week at the Haute Couture Week where it was crystal-clear that the Bachchans still treated Karan as part of their family. At Manish Malhotra’s fashion show Wednesday night, Abhishek, more baffled than hurt by not even being asked to do the “Agneepath” remake, walked up and warmly hugged Karan. The following evening, Karan coaxed the original “Agneepath” protagonist Amitabh Bachchan to walk the ramp with star of the remake Hrithik Roshan, thereby putting an end to all speculation within the film industry about a strain between the Bachchan parivar and Karan over the “Agneepath” issue. Says Karan emotionally: “The Bachchans and my family go back a long way. Our association is not on a film-to-film basis. It doesn’t matter how many films we work in or don’t work in. For the record I will be doing at least 10 more films with Abhishek in my lifetime. He has already done two films with our banner Dharma Productions. He’s doing ‘Dostana 2′ next year.”
