'Ahista Ahista' - now this is one flick that deserves to be promoted far more aggressively and should get its fare share of audience. Why? Because the film has honesty and simplicity written all over it! There have been number of flicks that have released and turned out to be successful this year. 'Rang De Basanti', 'Malamaal Weekly', 'Fanaa', 'Krrish', 'Phir Hera Pheri' and most recently 'Golmaal' are just to name a few. While the rest of the year looks good too due to number of high profile films coming one after another, one certainly feels from the heart that a film like 'Ahista Ahista' doesn't get lost in the crowd. A simple story told in a simple fashion, if promos are any indication then 'Ahista Ahista' is bound to be yet another natural film sans any dramebaazi for the young pair of Abhay Deol and Soha Ali Khan. Reminding of the late 70s flicks of Amol Palekar and Farroque Sheikh who could dress up they way they liked and still invite audience to watch their natural slice of life acts, 'Ahista Ahista' seems to be belonging to same genre with great and one of the most original music by Reshammiya to boast! Now the only wish one has is that the movie sees a proper release and gets its handful of audience!
What is Ahista Ahista about?
After an avalanche of biggies [Fanaa, Phir Hera Pheri, Krrish], it would be time for some smaller movies to make their presence felt in the Bollywood circuit. 'Ahista Ahista' is surely going to be one of them. The movie stars Abhay Deol, Soha Ali Khan and Shayan Munshi [his first major role after 'Jhankaar Beats'] in the lead. It is a romantic flick about two very unlikely people who develop feelings for each other in a gradual manner. Wanna know more about these two characters? Abhay Deol - A young simple guy who works as, guess what, a witness in a marriage registration office! Soha Ali Khan - A small town girl who elopes with her boyfriend [Shayan Munshi], only to be ditched by him in the city! And now it's about time that the two to start come closer. No wonder, slowly-slowly [ahista-ahista], their hearts start beating for each other!
Reshammiya goes slow with 'Ahista Ahista'
Reshammiya's presence in the musical scene has only made life easier for journos like us. There is not a single day when the composer/singer doesn't make news and it is inevitable for his work to find a place in media. The man has been known for his unique style of composing and singing that has ensured that he has at least one potential superhit number [sometimes extending to even 3-4] in each of his films for which he is roped in. The same can be comfortably said about his forthcoming film 'Ahista Ahista' that has Abhay Deol and Soha Ali Khan in the lead along with Shyan Munshi. A sweet love story with a setting straight out of life, 'Ahista Ahista' is a musical for which the promotion has just kick-started with a Reshammiya number 'Tum Dil Mein Shareek Huye - ahista ahista'! A slow song with shades of the title song from 'Humko Deewana Kar Gaye' it has Reshammiya composing and singing, once again, and looks all set to be yet another chartbuster for the man in coming days!
Imtiaz Ali writes 'Ahista Ahista'
Remember Abhay Deol's first film 'Socha Tha Na'? A 'khatti-meethi' film that had its own moments and ironically caught up with the youngsters 'after' it released and went, it is one of the hot favorites in the DVD circuits and campus movie shows. The man responsible for getting a natural act from Abhay, Ayesha Takia and rest of the starcast was young debutant director Imtiaz Ali. While the man is yet to come up with his second directorial film, he has been busy during all these months as he wrote 'Ahista Ahista', yet another film starring Abhay Deol in the lead. With the film's promos promising a fun filled sensitive outing, there are good hopes that 'Ahista Ahista' would boast of Imtiaz Ali's trademark 'natural' situations. We wish the man all the luck in his second Bollywood venture, though in the capacity of a writer!
Scary period ahead for 'Rocky' and 'Ahista Ahista'
One more week to go and 'Rocky-The Rebel' and 'Ahista Ahista' would be the two major releases on August 18th. 'Kathputli' that was originally slated for release tomorrow may also be joining them then. But is the overall situation indeed pleasant for the three flicks? Looks unlikely! KANK is now very much up there as far as taking historical collections is concerned. Releasing at record prints, the film would be dominating cinema screens all over where Hindi films are show. Media folks who have watched the film are going gaga over its prospects while the cast and crew is jubilant as well after the preview shows. This means that the film's euphoria would hardly settle down in a week's time and would continue for a good 2-3 weeks to come! So what happens to films like 'Rocky', 'Ahista Ahista' and 'Kathputli'? Inspite of a merit or two, it is likely that they would face rough weather in their opening week. With 5 confirmed releases a week after [Aap Ki Khatir, Bas Ek Pal, Shiva, Jaane Hoga Kya and Jaana - Let's Fall In Love] with 'Lage Raho Munnabhai' coming 2 weeks later, August would certainly be one of the busiest ever this month!
Abhay Deol's second release gets closer, 'Ahista Ahista'
Abhay Deol's 'Socha Na Tha' may not have done wonders at the box office but the film still had something to cheer about it's lead pair of Abhay Deol and Ayesha Takia was noticed and their performances were acclaimed. While Ayesha Takia went on to bag some awards for a best female debut and also some more films, Abhay Deol had a lull period for some time. But now he is slowly inching towards his second release, 'Ahista Ahista', that stars him opposite Soha Ali Khan. Shayan Munshi plays the third part of this love triangle. The film is produced by Anjum Rizvi, who had come up with Jimmy Shergill/Uday Chopra starrer 'Charas' a couple of years back. Shivram Nair, who has worked for TV serials like Sea Hawks and Ankahee is the film's director. 'Ahista Ahista' is slated for a July release.
