Oscar winning composer A.R. Rahman is unperturbed by the trolling that followed after his London concert, where some people walked out because he was performing more of Tamil songs. “I love the way how people have supported (me) for all these years. Without them, I am nothing. I’m grateful to all of them,” Rahman told the media at the red carpet of the 18th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards. Rahman was in London on July 8 to perform at Wembley Stadium as part of his ‘Netru, Indru, Naalai’ (Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow). Some fans cribbed he was singing more Tamil than Hindi songs. Asked about the trolling that followed thereafter, Rahman said: “We try our best. We try to be honest.” In a contrast to the London concert, fans at the Metlife Stadium here, where Rahman performed for two hours as part of IIFA Rocks on Friday, were left asking for more. In fact, they encouraged an encore once Rahman sang the Tamil version of “Urvasi Urvasi”.At the IIFA Awards gala on Sunday, Rahman was honoured with a Special Award for 25 years of contribution to music.
'Party' gets an auspicious launch in Chennai
Director Venkat Prabhu's upcoming multistarrer 'Party' has been launched with a formal pooja today. The pooja happened at a temple of Lord Ganesha in Raja Annamalaipuram, Chennai. Director Venkat Prabhu, the film's producer T.Siva of Amma Creations banner. The shooting of 'Party' will reportedly go on floor sin Fiji Islands from the 20th of July, 2017. The film would star Sathyaraj, Ramya Krishnan, Nassar, Sampath, Jai, Mirchi Siva, 'Kayal' Chandran, Regina Cassandra, Nivetha Pethuraj and Sanchitha Shetty in important roles. Premji Amaren will be providing the music score for the film. and he will not be acting in a film directed by his brother for the first time.
Another single track from Vivegam
Thala Ajith's 'Vivegam' has had two single tracks released and both of them- 'Surviva' and 'Thalai Viduthalai'- have been well received by Ajith fans and music buffs. Now we learn from a reliable source that the makers will release another song as the third single track and the remaining songs in the film will be released with the music album. The audio launch is expected to happen in the last week of July 2017. 'Vivegam' directed by Siva has music score by Anirudh Ravichander. It is an international espionage thriller produced on a grand scale by Sathya Jyothi Films banner.
Mersal and Sketch May Clash at Box Office
When Shankar made the announcement that Endhiran 2.0 is coming in January 2018 and not this Diwali, director Atlee instantly booked the slot for his grand film with Vijay titled Mersal. Most films would back off the race because it could be tough to acquire theaters. Produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu, Vikram and Tamannaah is the lead pair in Sketch which may join the race to go against Vijay’s Mersal. The movie is close to its post production work and may aim for Diwali release. However, other sources claim it may get released during Ayutha Pooja holidays but not on the festive occasion to avoid conflict with Vijay.
Superstar gives a sleepless night for 'Maanagaram' director
Superstar Rajinikanth has apparently watched the latest sensation 'Maanagaram' and he was apparently impressed with the film that made him immediately call the film's producer S.R.Prabhu as well as the debutant director Lokesh Kanakaraj and congratulate them for delivering such a great film.'Maanagaram' is a film on how a set of people from different backgrounds intersect each other in the fast-paced life of Chennai. The cast and crew members are predominantly newcomers or less popular faces. The film has been produced by a team of young producers under the Potential Studios banner in which S.R.Prabhu and S.R.Prakash Babu, the proprietors of Dream Warrior Pictures banner are included. At this moment. producer Prabhu has recounted that Thalaivar had watched 'Joker' the critically acclaimed super hit produced by Dream Warrior pictures last year and had called him to appreciate the film.Young director Lokesh is on cloud nine as his maiden work has been acknowledged by the biggest icon of Tamil cinema. He has said he may not be able to sleep on that night due to the immense happiness he has derived from Thalaivar's call.
