Gangai Amaran is a man with multiple talents. A musician-cum-lyricist-cum-director, Gangai Amaran is back to score music after a long gap. Having scored music for several hit films in the early 1980s, Gangai Amaran has been roped in for 'Selvaraghavan BE', directed by Paranthaman, an associate of director 'Selvaraghavan'. The director has chosen the title as a mark of respect to his mentor. Gangai Amaran has penned the lyrics for many a movie besides crooning for songs as well. His directorial venture 'Karakatakaran' went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters in Tamil cinema.
Premji Amaran to quit acting?
Premji Gangai Amaran has been assisting his cousin Yuvan Shankar Raja for quite some time composing music for films. He tried his hand at acting with his brother's directorial venture 'Chennai 600028' and won many accolades for a performance that was loaded with humor. Following this success he was offered to play comedian in many films. Unfortunately, all the other roles were miniscule in nature and are highly forgettable. Despite the fact that Premji is playing a pivotal role in his brother's second venture 'Saroja', he seems to have made a decision to quit acting and concentrate on composing music full time. (This notwithstanding the fact that he's getting acting offers every other day). He is currently working as music director for two films. 'Athey Neram Athey Idam' that stars Jai and Vijayalakshmi will bring to light Premji's music compositions. He has also committed himself to a project named 'Pookada Ravi' produced by Radaan Films. Premji is known to be a funny person not just in front of the camera but also off it. When he was asked recently if he desired to get in shape to sport a 6-pack ab, he retorted quickly by saying, 'no 6-pack'.only 18-pack' with obvious reference to the fat he's planning to accumulate in the abdomen area. Is Premji serious about quitting acting? We'll have to wait and see and be sure this is not yet another funny gimmick from him.
Premji Amaran’s ‘2010 Bhagyaraj’ for Deepavali!
The well known actor Premiji Amaran might be very happy this year not only just because he is acting together with Ajith in ‘Mankatha’ but also his debutant film as a hero will be hitting the screens for Deepavali. The film has been titled as ‘2010 Bhagyaraj’ which is being directed by Thirumalairajan and produced by Sona Haiden under Unique Productions banner. Yuvan Shankar Raja has composed the music while cinematography is by Siddharth and editing by Anthony. The film producer says that the film shooting is progressing at fast pace and planning to release it by November as Deepavali gift.

Gangai Amaran, music director, lyricist and director, is the brother of Isaignani Ilayaraja. He has scored music for more than 150 films, directed 22 movies and penned 2000 songs. He has also rendered his voice to over 500 songs in films. Gangai Amaran has given silver jubilee hits like Karakattakaran and Enga Ooru Paattukaran, which were undeniable hits. At present he is playing the host of a music programme in a popular Television channel. The versatile Gangai Amaran celebrates his birthday today. Vijay Sethupathi turns producer with Aaranju Mittai
Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi, who tasted success in the film industry last year, says he has turned producer with upcoming Tamil film "Aaranju Mittai" because of its impressive storyline. "I chose to become a producer because of the film's good story. There are no other reasons that forced me to take this step. I really liked the script and therefore decided to produce it on my own. I also plan to produce another Tamil film soon," Vijay said. In 2013, Vijay scored two back-to-back blockbusters with films "Soodhu Kavvum" and "Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara". "I just wish to continue doing good films in 2014 as well. I have two good and different films lined up release," he said. Vijay has "Rummy" and "Padminiyum Pannaiyarum" ready for release. He is currently working on a Tamil thriller tiled "Mellisai" with a debutant director.
