This year, the ANR award would be presented to Anjali Devi at a ceremony on January 13. This was announced by Venkat Akkineni. He said that Anjali Devi was their neighbour in Chennai and felt happy that the award went to her this year. ANR too was happy that Anjali Devi was the first Telugu artiste to get the award as she had acted with him in 50 films out of his 254 films. Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy will give away the award as part of the Sankranti celebrations. Anjali Devi who debuted with Gollabhama went on to act in nearly 400 films. She also produced films along with her husband Adiseshagiri Rao.
Anjali and her Mentor
Though Jeeva starrer 'Katrathu Thamizh' was Anjali's maiden venture, it was director Mu. Kalanjiyam, who brought Anjali in to film world. Though the film did not take off, the effort made Anjali as an actor and she became a full time actor after director Ram signed her up for his maiden venture 'Katrathu Thamizh'. Now director Kalanjiyam has approached the girl to act in his film, in which he plays the lead role besides directing it. The girl has promptly accepted the offer made by her mentor to act in the film. Kalanjiyam, who directed 'Kizhakkum Merkum', which received TN Government award for Best Story, has postponed his film featuring Liberation Panthers' leader Thirumavalavan for the project in which he makes his debut as hero.
Anjali signs up Muni 3
Actress Anjali has signed up Raghava Lawrence starrer Muni 3 for a cameo role. The actress who has listened to the script has agreed to be part of the film for a brief role. Sources inform that her character in the film will be interesting though it’s brief. Raghava Lawrence himself is wielding the megaphone for the movie and Bellamkonda Suresh is producing it on Sri Sai Ganesh Productions banner. The shooting schedules of the film are in progress and Tapsee is playing the leading lady in the film. Anirudh Ravichander who was earlier roped in as music composer has opted out of the project due to his prior commitments. Other details of the film are to be announced by the makers.
Anjali joins Lawrence’s Muni 3
Anjali has been roped in for a significant role in Raghava Lawrence’s forthcoming directorial Muni 3. Tapsee is playing the female lead in the movie and now Lawrence has zeroed in Anjali for an important role and she will be seen as Gayatri in the horror/comedy genre movie. Anjali’s role will appear in flashback episode which is the key for the story. Lawrence is playing the lead role apart from directing the film like the previous two parts Muni and Kanchana. Bellamkonda Suresh is producing the film under Sri Sai Ganesh Productions banner. Muni is simultaneously being made in Tamil, Telugu versions. Apart from Muni 3, Anjali is playing the leading lady in Bol Bachchan remake Masala pairing up with Victory Venkatesh for the second time after SVSC.
Anjali paired up with Jai Once again
Talented actress Anjali has been going strong in Tamil. This glam diva, who recently became a darling of the mass audience thanks to the song Blockbuster from Sarrainodu, is set to do a romantic-horror in Tamil. Guess what, this one is special to her because she is teaming up with her Journey pair (Engeyum Eppothum in Tamil) after five years. Anjali today tweeted, "My next untitled Tamil film shooting starts from today with J @Actor_Jai #After5yrs #romantichorror #NewBeginnings." The movie is directed by Sinish, who has been quoted as saying that Anjali was the first and unanimous choice as the role aptly fits her. Looks like the Telugu horror-comedy Githanjali, which brought laurels to Anjali for her acting skills, had a bearing on Sinish's decision. The team is upbeat about the response that the pairing has generated. It has cinematography by Saravanan. Possibly, the film will be dubbed into Telugu.
Anjali says ‘I’m not married’
Anjali, the famous South Indian actress says she is not married and the reports about her missing are rumors. Yesterday [Aug 29], there was speculations making rounds that Tamil actress Anjali went missing, who was suppose to dub for Telugu version of Sundar C. directed Madha Gaja Raja [Nataraju Taane Raju] that casts Vishal, Anjali and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar. Kalakalappu actress denied saying, “I was shocked by the news that says I’m missing. Hearsay about I’m not supporting Madha Gaja Raja team are rumors, infact I’m eagerly waiting for the release of the film both in Telugu and Tamil.” Anjali also clarified, “The information about my marriage with a person from political family is gossip,” concluded Journey star.
