Arjun on Cloud Nine
Arjun Rampal is on cloud nine these days the reason being AXN has announced Bollywood's first ever action awards, and the man who even puts the Greek Gods to shame with his impeccable looks and style has been nominated alongwith with Nana Patekar and Rahul Dev in the category for the best action actor in negative role for his movie Ek Ajnabee. This superb actor is all the more euphoric, as out of the six categories Ek Ajnabee has been nominated in four categories. Voting is on for a month and in June the winners will be announced, so there's lot of time for Arjun's fans to vote for him. Icon for millions of people, Arjun says I am very happy as it's a great achievement for me as well as for my film. All I can say is that my fingers are crossed and I hope the love and support of my fans will work wonders for me.
Arjun Says: I See You
Arjun Rampal is a man of many moods. Fireworks Model, he turned an actor with Ashok Mehta's 'Moksh' that got delayed immeasurably. Even though he is terrifically good looking and a decent actor to boot, success continues to elude him. Except for a multi-starrer 'Ankhen' starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal and an average 'Ajnabee' where he plays a cool baddy, Rampal hasn't tasted Box Office blood so far. It seems in his desperation to do things the way he things is right, Arjun has decided to turn a producer. His debut production is called 'I See You' that ran into a controversy recently when there were media reports about a tiff between Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan both of whom have made a special appearance in a promotional song of the film. The film's major portion is being shot in London and promises to be a style flick. Supportive ex-model wife Meher Jessia is the production manager on the sets of their production and is proving to be quite popular as well as efficient. Arjun has reasons to feel positive as he will also be seen in Farhan Akhtar's 'Don' where is essaying the constructive role played by Pran in the original. Having been a part of SRKs entourage that went for the very successful 'Temptations' tour last year, it is a happy situation to be a part of one of the most powerful camps in Bollywood. There is speculation that he has also done a cameo in Karan Johar's 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna'. Let's see whether, the attempts made by Arjun Rampal in grabbing some limelight finally come true. Or not.
Arjun Rampal says 'I See You' to an invisible girl
Whacky! Now that's one word to describe the plot of Arjun Rampal's first home production 'I See You'. The film stars Arjun Rampal in the lead as a charming man who could make any girl fall on knees for her. But his heart ticks for only one girl - someone who is beautiful, attractive, stylish and invisible to everyone but him. Invisible? Yes, you read it right. The USP of the film is that very fact since the identity of this mystery woman has been hidden for all as in the film she is there only for Arjun's eyes. Apart from the mystery woman, the film also stars Chunky Pandey in the meaty role of Arjun's friend along with Boman Irani and Sonali Kulkarni with Shahrukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan in guest appearances. The film is directed by debutant Vivek Agrawal.
Arjun Rampal in two back-to-back money spinners
After waiting endlessly for years, Arjun Rampal can finally heave a sigh of relief. After all he has just featured in two back to back money spinners. Having appeared in a dozen odd films with his lone success being 'Aankhen' [2002], Arjun Rampal now has reasons to smile since he featured in 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' around a couple of months back and now is being seen as a second lead in 'Don - The Chase Begins Again'. Agreed that he had a miniscule role to play in KANK but a hit is after all a hit. Also, if the film would have been a flop, wouldn't it still have been added to his tally as a failure? In comparison 'Don' did feature him as a second lead and provided him ample opportunity and screen time, especially considering the fact that the film was an out and out SRK starrer. With all indications of 'Don' being a success, Arjun can at least claim it to be as much as his success as everyone else's!
Arjun Rampal, a superstar?
Arjun Rampal is a fine actor who hasn't got his due. Having started off with 'Pyaar Iishq Aur Mohabbat' this hot body went on to do several films that laid eggs at the box office. 'Moksha', 'Dil Ka Rishta', 'Dil Hai Tumhara', 'Elaan', 'Vaada', 'Tehzeeb', 'Yakeen' etc etc. The only films that did decent business have been 'Aankhen' (But then it also had Big B, Akshay Kumar, Suhmita Sen and Paresh Rawal too) and 'Ajnabee' (Big B once again). If you include bit parts in 'Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna' and somewhat biggie in 'Don' then yes Arjun Rampal has been a part of successful films. But yes, the fact remains he hasn't had a solo hit. And he has been around for almost a decade now. The question remains then what makes Arjun feel-n-behave like a superstar? He doesn't keep his promises as far as interviews are concerned. Moreover except for Karan Johar, Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan and the likes, rest of the world doesn't merit respect in Rampal's books. He has been selectively promoting his first home production 'I See You' by giving bytes to a few elite news channels. Rest of the mere mortals have to stand in a long queue before King Rampal obliges. Wife Meher Jessia answers his calls and informs that the 'super cool hot dude' (whatever that means) is busy in a meeting. And she too fails to honour her commitement of a curt: 'call after an hour'. The phone is conveniently switched off there after. SMSs are never answered (even the biggest of stars promptly reply to an SMS when they're busy). What one makes from Arjun Rampal's production plans, is that either he is super confident that 'I See You' will work anyway. Or he is sure it's not gonna work'So why tom tom about it anyway. The film's stills are dominated by debutante Vipasha Agarwal and to be fair to Arjun, he is looking a hunky dude as well. But the vibes from the promos of the film are absolutely thanda. Let's see if the film has a few surprises in store. The final verdict is that Arjun Rampal is a talented actor who needs a crash course in harnessing his PR skills. It's good to be nice sometimes. After all a warm smile and a confident handshake is always more precious than a smirk sitting in an ivory tower.
