Popular industrialist and filmmaker Azhagan Thamizhmani was slated to play a character in director Bala's film 'Naan Kadavul'. His character required him to grow a mustache and beard. Azhagan Thamizhmani, who had produced movies such as Solaikuyil and Sithiraipookal in the past, religiously grew his beard and mustache for a year. Since 'Naan kadavul' starring Arya ran into many controversies, the film did not have a smooth sail as far as continuous production is concerned. Despite this snag the industrialist cum filmmaker waited patiently for his shots to be canned. Unfortunately before the shooting could take place, his mother passed away. Hindu tradition requires the son to take off the mustache, beard and even tonsure the head before performing the last rites. But then to keep up his commitment with the film 'Naan Kadavul' Azhagan Thamizhmani didn't shave off and went ahead with the last rites. This sure is a big favor for the 'Naan Kadavul' team.
Namitha refused to act in ‘Azhagana Ponnuthan
The sexy actress Namitha, who is playing a lead role in director Thiru’s upcoming flick ‘Azhagana Ponnuthan’, is now behaving irresponsively. Director Thiru regrets that his ‘Azhagana Ponnuthan’ will be washed away due to Namitha as Namitha refused to act in the movie after finishing major parts of the film. So, he filed a complaint against her at the Producers’ Council and they announced that Namitha should finish the film upto ending. However, she refused to give support for the team. So, director Thiru says “I had to modify the story and the climax due Namitha’s unresponsive behavior and she was responsible for the huge losses that the producer of Azhagana Ponnuthan had incurred. Even the climax was not what I had in mind and film was cut short by 20 minutes.”
Azhagappan for Pongal
It is a routine thing that many films would gear up for the festival seasons but some of them would pull themselves out from the race at the last minute. But the case of Vadivelu starrer 'Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan' is different. Earlier the movie was planned to be a Republic Day (January 26) release. But now it has been advanced to Pongal. The team is gearing up to wrap up all the work to bring it on Pongal day. This sudden development is said to have affected some small budgeted films. The entry of 'Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan' has made it difficult for small budget films to find theaters. Since Vadivelu's earlier film as hero 'Imsai Arasan 23aam Pulikesi' had an excellent opening, the expectations for 'Indiralogathil Na Azhagappan' is increased. So it has got some premiere theaters and this has affected the small films.
