Balaji Sakthivels next
Balaji Sakthivel, who became best-known for his film 'Kadhal' in 2004, is sure one of the promising film-makers of Kollywood to come out with products that defy the set standards of so called commercial ventures. After 'Kadhal' in 2004, he was associated with his mentor, ace director Shankar for the film 'Sivaji-The Boss'. He came back after 3 years with 'Kallori', a realistic film starring Tamanna Bhatia and other newcomers in 2007 which did moderately well at the box-office. And now the director is ready to make his next film. Balaji Sakthivel's next venture would be 'Vazhakku en 18/7' for director Lingusamy's production house Tirupati films. Both the hero and heroine would be debutants in this film. The hunt is taut at a rapid pace to find the perfect cast for this movie. Sure, we can expect a movie sans commercial elements that defy set rules of success in Kollywood.

'Bajirao Mastani' toughest film of my career: Deepika
Deepika Padukone has stepped into period drama genre with “Bajirao Mastani”, but Sanjay Leela Bhansali's historical love saga is turning out to be an arduous task for the actress. She says the film is “physically, mentally and emotionally draining”. “The film is definitely the toughest of my career. The film has been extremely draining, be it physically, mentally or emotionally. The nature of the movie and the director is very demanding,” Deepika said at the film's song launch here. The track titled "Deewani Mastani" was launched at Day One of Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2015 here on Saturday. The actress has teamed up with Bhansali for the second time -- “Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram-Leela” was the first. “Bajirao Mastani” narrates the love story of Maratha Peshwa Bajirao I (played by Ranveer Singh) and his second wife Mastani (Deepika). Actress Priyanka Chopra plays Bajirao's first wife Kashibai. The film is scheduled to release on December 18. For Deepika, the push by the director helps an actor push the envelope and get better in the craft. “He (Bhansali) is never happy with what he sees. He is very clear about what he wants from his actors and team. So, he pushes you and helps you discover something within yourself that you didn’t know existed,” the actress said. “He is a hard task master. You learn so much about yourself. It has been the most difficult experience, but in the end you feel it is worth it,” she added. After making a name for herself in the world of modelling, Deepika entered Bollywood with “Om Shanti Om” in 2007, and went on to take Hindi filmdom with a storm. She has been appreciated by one and all for experimenting with different storylines like “Piku”, “Aarakshan” and “Finding Fanny”. Her line-up of upcoming movies is also quite impressive like “Tamasha” apart from “Bajirao Mastani”.

'Baazigar' sowed seeds of acting in my brain: Varun Sharma
Actor Varun Sharma, who shares screen space with Shah Rukh Khan in "Dilwale", says the superstar's 1993 blockbuster "Baazigar" sowed the seeds of acting in him. "The seed of acting got into me because of 'Baazigar'. My mother knows that very well. She was emotional when she got to know that I am sharing screen space with the man who inspires me (Shah Rukh) and whom I respect as an idol. It's a great feeling for any mother," Varun told. The "Fukrey" actor said he made his mother proud after landing the role in "Dilwale". "When I got the confirmation, I told her that I got an offer working in Rohit Shetty's film along with Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Varun Dhawan. And there was a two-minute silence. I knew there were so many things going on in her mind that time. I took her blessings. I think I made her a little bit proud," he added. The 24-year-old, whose character Chucha in "Fukrey" garnered popularity among cinegoers, says wherever he goes, people still call him by that name. "My focus is always on making an impression on the audience's mind in whatever role I do. It satisfies both me as an actor and those who are watching me as well," he said. "Chucha in 'Fukrey' made such a mark on people's minds that even now when I go out they call me first by that name then greet me as Varun. For any actor to be called by his character name is his biggest victory. And now I hope it changes with 'Dilwale'," he added. Directed by Rohit Shetty "Dilwale" also stars Kajol, Varun Dhawan, Kriti Sanon, Boman Irani, Johnny Lever among others. The film is releasing on December 18.
