Balaji Sakthivel, who became best-known for his film 'Kadhal' in 2004, is sure one of the promising film-makers of Kollywood to come out with products that defy the set standards of so called commercial ventures. After 'Kadhal' in 2004, he was associated with his mentor, ace director Shankar for the film 'Sivaji-The Boss'. He came back after 3 years with 'Kallori', a realistic film starring Tamanna Bhatia and other newcomers in 2007 which did moderately well at the box-office. And now the director is ready to make his next film. Balaji Sakthivel's next venture would be 'Vazhakku en 18/7' for director Lingusamy's production house Tirupati films. Both the hero and heroine would be debutants in this film. The hunt is taut at a rapid pace to find the perfect cast for this movie. Sure, we can expect a movie sans commercial elements that defy set rules of success in Kollywood.
Balaji in Engdyum Epodhum Remake - Exclusive
Balaji is making a comeback with a new multi-starrer film. It is a remake of the Tamil hit Engdyum Epodhum. Deepa Sannidhi has been selected as one of the two heroines. The film will be produced by a relative of Balaji, Narasimhan, who is close to Balaji's brother Crazy Star Ravichandaran as well. Sources say that Narasimhan's son will also make his debut in the film. Mahesh Rao who directed the recent Tamil remake Case No 18/9 will be directing this film as well. An official statement is expected shortly.
Balaji to co-produce Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor starrer Veere Di Wedding
Earlier we had reported that in a casting coup of sorts, Rhea Kapoor has brought together two divas for her upcoming chick flick, Veere Di Wedding namely, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor. And now it has been revealed that Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures too has come on board to co-produce the film. Accompanying the two ladies, another names added to the cast are Swara Bhaskar and Wake Up Sid fame Shikha Talsania. While the four actresses play the lead, the names of the male cast is yet to be revealed. Being India's first chick flick we hear that the film is inspired by the popular Hollywood movie The Sisterhood of Travelling Pants. Set at the backdrop of a big fat Indian wedding which the friends will be attending, the film revolves around the friendship of these four women and celebrates the spirit of modern Indian women. Directed by Shashanka Ghosh, Veere Di Wedding will be shot extensively in Delhi and Thailand.
Daniel Balaji in 'Mazhai Vara Pokuthu'
Ace Malayalam director Lal Jose will take a break from Malayalam cinema for a while, and is starting work on his debut Tamil venture. The film titled 'Mazhai Vara Pokuthu' will tell the story of a rustic village in Tamilnadu that longs for rains. The movie based on a plot by Lal Jose will be scripted by James Albert who has created two big hits in Mollywood, Classmates and Cycle. Daniel Balaji will play the lead role for the first time with 'Mazhai Vara Pokuthu'. Lal Jose is finalizing the other cast and crew of this venture and will start shooting in a couple of months.
RJ Balaji in Mani Ratnam's film
Ace director Mani Ratnam would soon begin is next film which is as yet untitled with Karthi as the hero and Aditi Rao Hydari as the heroine. The film will have AR Rahman's music. Latest update on this film's cast is the inclusion of popular RJ Balaji in the film. An excited Balaji took to his social media page to convey this. He said, "And this did happen for real. Grew up watchin his films n now to be part of a Maniratnam Film. Feels like a dream!. Balaji had already forayed into the film industry and has worked in films like Pugazh, Idhu Enna Mayam, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, Vadacurry and Theeya Vela Seyanum Kumaru. He caught everyone's attention when he helped the flood ravaged Chennai people in last December along with actor Siddharth.

It could have been a sudden surprise for RJ Balaji to get a call from Maniratnam film and yes. it’s all a change in his career graph now, sure of escalations. Last evening, the actor tweeted on his micro-blogging page saying, “And this did happen for real. Grew up watchin his films n now to be part of a Maniratnam Film. Feels like a dream!”It is noteworthy that RJ Balaji became famous on silver screens through his hilarious show in Jai starrer ‘Vadacurry’ following which his hilarious episodes in Vijay Sethupathi-Nayantara starrer ‘Naanum Rowdydhaan’ was highly appreciated.The Film First look was released today and titled film 'Kaatru Veliyidai' features Karthi as a pilot and Aditi Rao Hydari as a doctor.
