Many of the yester-year heroines haven’t dared to play the role of a sex-worker, but this is not the case with the present-day heroines. The actresses are expressing their interest in taking up such roles to prove their talent and acting skills. Critics showered praises on Anushka for her role of ‘Amalapuram Saroja’ in Vedam. Now, actress Bindu Madhavi is following the formers foot-steps and has essayed the role of sex-worker in one of her forthcoming films Sega, the dubbed version of Tamil flick Veppam. Nani and Nithya Menon are playing the lead roles in the film. Talking about her role in the film, Bindu Madhavi says, “I’m playing the role of a sex-worker in Sega but they aren’t any intimate or vulgar scenes in the film. An artist should have guts to take up such roles and I wanted to prove that am a genuine artiste. I feel happy to act in Anjana Ali Khan’s direction and Gautham Menon’s production venture.”
Salman fails to bend like Beckham
Bekham, Rooney and Rosicky have spoiled the Bollywood party in UK. With the onset of high adrenaline FIFA World Cup in Germany, the organizers of the Wembley leg of Rockstars Concert had to cancel the last show due to paucity of ticket sales. After attaining reasonable success in several cities in US, the show in Birmingham didn't live up to the hype either. With stars like Salman Khan, John Abraham, Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Mallika Sherawat, Esha Deol and Zayed Khan, the shows were expected to be chartbusters. But the UK leg didn't live up to the expectations. Right from the beginning, the Rockstars tour (In USA, Canada and UK) had been infested with troubles. Shows in Calgary and Orlando were cancelled due to no clear reason. In the Birmingham show, the arena capacity was 18000 but only 2000 people were present. While for the London show only 300 tickets were sold so the organizers decided to cancel it. Another version doing the rounds is the issue of non-payment to artistes. Artistes are sometimes paid in bulk for four to five shows at a time or individually paid before every show. If they are not paid before the show as per the agreement, they have the right to refuse to perform. The Rockstars shows have been organized by the Morani brothers, Sohail Khan and Bunty Walia. All of them were unavailable for comment. According to a news channel, Salman Khan is being paid a huge sum of Rs 15 crore for the entire package.
Samsung has made a battery so bendy, it’ll wrap around your wrist
Samsung SDI, the mega-corporation’s division dedicated to all things energy and battery related, has shown off a thin, rollable, and bendable battery during the InterBattery 2014 convention in South Korea. It’s calling it the world’s first truly flexible battery, and claim it’s so versatile, it could be rolled around the side of a cup and still operate normally. Or, as is more likely in the future, a wrist. Designed with wearable hardware in mind, the battery is also shown bending into a U shape. The flexible battery’s announcement comes several months after Samsung revealed the curved 210mAh cell which eventually found its way inside the Gear Fit fitness band. At the time, it stated smart bands would eventually take up 25 percent of the wearables market, making them the number one product in the emerging industry. By developing a truly flexible battery, Samsung’s future wearable products could be more comfortable, and the design more daring. However, while exciting, Samsung’s latest flex batteries aren’t quite ready to be fitted inside a gadget we can buy. According to the firm, the development stage is complete, but the technology needs time to mature so both safety and reliability can be increased. No time frame outside of the process taking “years” was mentioned. LG Chem, LG’s equivalent to Samsung SDI, has also talked about flexible batteries. This time last year, the firm discussed developing batteries which were so flexible they could be tied up in a knot. Again, the cell wasn’t expected to be ready for production for several years. Rather than provide an update on the battery’s status at this year’s show, LG Chem apparently concentrated on showcasing larger batteries, specifically for electric cars. Samsung also showed off another unusual battery at the show. Designed for use in wearable devices, it’s absolutely tiny. Resembling a large pill, it measures 3.6mm across, and 20mm long, while the capacity is just 10mAh.
