The 60th South Indian Film Fare awards are announced in Chennai. Fahad Fasil has elected as the best actor in Malayalam for his wonderful acting in ’22 Female Kottayam’. Rima Kallingal has got the best actress award for her fabulous performance in the same film. The best director is Lal Jose and the best film is ‘Ayyalum Njanum Thammil’ directed by Lal Jose. Biju Menon has got the best supporting actor award (Ordinary). Dulkar Salman has got the best new face award for his performance in the film ‘Second Show’.
Jimmy Sheirgill wins BEST ACTOR award for BAS EK PAL
"It came as a pleasant surprise when I was informed that I was chosen as a winner of the BEST ACTOR award for BAS EK PAL", informs Jimmy Sheirgill who has just won this award in the recently concluded Fourth National Media Festival and Cine India International Film Festival - THE BIG PICTURE-07. Held at Amity University Campus, Noida, the festival also saw BAS EK PAL being nominated for the BEST FILM. "I didn't even know that there was any award for the BEST ACTOR in the festival. I was there with director Anand Kumar for the promotion of DELHII HEIGHTS and by the time I reached the venue I realized that I had been announced as the winner. Thankfully director Onir was there to reach the stage and collect the award on my behalf", smiles Jimmy. With movies like BAS EK PAL and EKLAVYA getting him good recognition as an actor who can play variety of roles, is he planning to revisit his strategy of picking up roles? "Well, there are number of exciting films up for release in coming months that would project me in different lights. The going has been good and from DELHII HEIGHTS onwards, you would see me playing different roles in each of the films", he concludes.
Salman named best actor, ‘Dabangg’ best film at Apsara Awards
Bollywood star Salman Khan Tuesday triumphed at the 6th edition of the Chevrolet Apsara Film & Television Producers Guild Awards by bagging the best actor prize for hit comedy “Dabangg”, which was declared the best film. “Dabangg”, released last year, was Arbaaz Khan’s first film as a producer and became the biggest grosser of the year at the box office. Directed by first time director Abhinav Kashyap, the film also introduced Sonakshi Sinha, daughter of actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha. It gave 2009’s best item number “Munni Badnam” too. Karan Johar got the best director award for “My Name Is Khan”. Set in a tumultuous post 9/11 America, the film starred Shah Rukh Khan as a Aspergers syndrome patient who sets out on a journey to prove that every Khan is not a terrorist. In the best actress category there was a tie between Vidya Balan and Anushka Sharma – while the former was awarded for her stupendous performance in critically acclaimed “Ishqiya”, the latter was honoured for her role in the successful film “Band Baaja Baraat”
Vijay the best actor and Jeyam Ravi the romantic hero
The 5th Edition of the Edison awards were announced in a grand ceremony that saw some of the biggest Tamil stars in attendance. Vijay won the best actor award for Velayudham. Richa really cleaned up at the awards winning in the best female debut and best actress categories for her turn as Yamini in Mayakkam Enna. Mahat Raghavendra won the best male debut award. In the best supporting actor category, Sriman, Kovai Sarala won for Kanchana, Vasundhara for Poraali, Saravanan won for Thambi Vettothi Sundaram and Vaibhav for Mankatha. Premgi Amaren's comedy act in Mankatha won him the best comedian award. Raghava Lawrence was given best extraordinary performance award and Jeyam Ravi was given best romantic hero award. RK won the best villain award for Avan Ivan. Singers Chinmayee and Alaap Raju won the best playback singer awards for Chotta Chotta from Engeyum Eppothum and Ennamo Yedho from Ko. Harris Jeyaraj was given the best music director award and K for background score in Yuddham Sei. Saravanan won an award for best debut director for his film Engeyum Eppothum and Shanthakumar won the best screenplay award for his riveting work in Mounaguru. LR Eashwari was honored with a lifetime achievement award. Kola Baskar got the best editor award and Ramji got best cinematographer award for their work in Mayakkam Enna. Muthuraj won for art direction for the film, Ponnar Shankar.
Ranbir Is The Best Actor: Aamir Khan
Superstar Aamir Khan is overwhelmed with actor Ranbir Kapoor's performance in "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", and calls him a great artist. Aamir took to Twitter to laud filmmaker Karan Johar's directorial venture. "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", also starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anushka Sharma and Fawad Khan, clashed with actor-filmmaker Ajay Devgn's "Shivaay" at the box office. "Just saw 'Ae Dil...'. What a film! I just loved it! Karan has hit the ball out of the stadium. Ranbir, Aishwarya and Anushka have just killed it. Ranbir is the best actor! Period! A must see!" Aamir posted. Produced by Fox Star Studios and Dharma Productions, the film released on Friday.
